As a Youth Engagement Worker, your role will be multifaceted and no two days will be the same. You will encourage students in developing their social, emotional and educational lives and with that comes great job satisfaction and a sense of personal achievement.


Previous experience desired but not essential. If you don't have direct experience but you do have transferable skills such as working in a care, military or sports background - we encourage you to apply!

The School

A Liverpool based school seek to appoint a Youth Worker to support their secondary Pupil Referral Unit pupils here have been excluded from mainstream school, have emotional, behavioural needs, attendance or truanting issues.

Role

  • This will be supporting students with social, emotional, mental health needs across secondary ages providing classroom support as well as home support if needed
  • You will also be required to provide 1:1 support with any emotional issues, and supporting if pupils are behind with their work
  • Completing progress reports on pupils progress
  • Support young people with social, emotional, mental health needs
  • Flexible in being able to provide 1:1, group support or home tuition as required
  • Deal with any challenging behaviours or incidents in a calm manner

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking social worker to join our busy, pro-active, integrated team based within Arrowe Park Hospital.

The role will involve working with people with a wide variety of both physical and mental health conditions as well as complex social issues. This role will involve collaborative working and taking responsibility within our experienced multi-disciplinary teams- MDTs, to ensure best possible outcomes are achieved for people using the service, their carers and families. You will attend regular MDT meetings and ensure that you work effectively to provide person- centred care, ensure timely journey for people who use the service, prevent discharge delays and working with the wider team such as Transfer to Assess, Rapid Response and Home First Team to avoid admissions to hospital and long term care.

You need to have social work experience, have an excellent understanding of current social work legislative practice. There will be a need ensure that you work in compliance of the requirements of The Care Act 2014.

Risk management, excellent communication skills and an ability to prioritise and often work at a fast pace is essential. You will need good time management skills.

This post requires applicants to be at an experienced social worker level. It is also essential that the post holder is able to effectively resilient to challenges posed by the Acute Trust (hospital) during winter pressures.

The post holder will be required to actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and to ensure that they manage their continuous professional development. There will be the opportunity for regular supervision and to attend in-service training and professional development. The team has an active social work focus group, to which membership will be offered

The service operates with extended hours 7 days per week providing cover 8am-8pm. You would be expected to work to cover service demands across the extended hours and weekends on a roster basis.

Experience of working with people with complex needs is desirable but what is crucial is a genuine wish to work collaboratively with adults and their families to meet their goals and aspirations. We are working on behalf of a SEN school that caters for vulnerable children and wish to appoint a Youth Engagement Worker upon the reopening of the school in March 2021.


As a Youth Engagement Worker, your role will be multifaceted and no two days will be the same. You will encourage students in developing their social, emotional and educational lives and with that comes great job satisfaction and a sense of personal achievement.


Previous experience desired but not essential. If you don't have direct experience but you do have transferable skills such as working in a care, military or sports background - we encourage you to apply!

The School

A Liverpool based school seek to appoint a Youth Worker to support their secondary Pupil Referral Unit pupils here have been excluded from mainstream school, have emotional, behavioural needs, attendance or truanting issues.

Role

  • This will be supporting students with social, emotional, mental health needs across secondary ages providing classroom support as well as home support if needed
  • You will also be required to provide 1:1 support with any emotional issues, and supporting if pupils are behind with their work
  • Completing progress reports on pupils progress
  • Support young people with social, emotional, mental health needs
  • Flexible in being able to provide 1:1, group support or home tuition as required
  • Deal with any challenging behaviours or incidents in a calm manner
