CNC Operator and ProgrammerOur client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, are currently seeking a CNC Operator and Programmer to join their teamThis is a full time, permanent position, based in NorwichHOURS: Basic hours 8:30am — 5:00pm Mon — Fri lunch 1:00-1:30pmNormal working hours are 7:00am — 5:00pmDue to seasonal variations within the business these hours may be increased in theWinter, or reduced in the Summer.KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE<ul><li>Must have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to work extended hours on occasions</li><li>Good understanding of the principles of CNC machining, design and engineering</li><li>Has a reasonable knowledge of CAD/CAM capabilities</li><li>The ideal candidate will have a good engineering aptitude, will be from a CNC router (or similar) programming background.</li><li>Prior programming experience or ability to learn proprietary programming software</li><li>Ability to read and understand CAD/CAM drawings</li><li>Ability to transfer practical CNC knowledge in to program variables.</li><li>Basic understanding of PC file structures and MS Office programs</li><li>Ability to understand basic engineering calculations</li><li>Fundamental appreciation of business concepts</li><li>Able to demonstrate success and experience in a machining background.</li><li>Have CNC machine minding experience within wood or metal work.</li></ul>JOB PURPOSE: <ul><li>To operate and program all CNC machines.</li><li>Specific responsibility for the XYZ Milling and CNC extrusion machining centre for production of aluminium extrusions.</li><li>Machining methods and quality to be in accordance with agreed  machining principles and procedures.</li></ul>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTIBILITIES:<ul><li>Operate and program the CNC extrusion machining centre, utilising the propriety software (Shapes),</li><li>Ensuring the optimum process to achieve minimal material wastage and optimum machine utilisation.</li><li>Reporting any problems or potential problems to your immediate supervisor.</li><li>Train to be able to carry out the maximum range of tasks within the machining / finishing department, including operating and programming all CAD/CAM based CNC machines.</li><li>Liaise with the design engineer to remove any ambiguity or resolve any product queries.</li><li>Liaise with the Machine Shop Department Leader to organise and implement work schedules.</li><li>Reporting any shortage of material stock, tooling or consumables.</li><li>Assist with the operation of a full maintenance programme in accordance with the Machine manufacturers and guidelines .</li><li>Ensure that the machines, tools and working areas are kept clean and tidy ready to carry out the next task</li><li>Comply with all aspects of the Health and Safety procedures at all times.</li><li>Liaise closely with other production functions to resolve machining queries.</li><li>To adhere to, and assist in the continuous improvement of, Quality procedures and policies outlined in ISO9001 Quality Manual and Certification criteria.</li><li>To undertake any other reasonable duty as requested.</li></ul>HOLIDAYS: 32 days per annum, including 8 days for public holidays, 3 or 4 days to be taken over Christmas shut-downFor further details on this exciting opportunity, please forward a copy of your CV today!Todd Hayes Ltd is an equal opportunities employer. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive knowledge of commercial gas, LPG, and oil-fired systems. Mandatory qualifications (though we'd consider individuals without, but capable of achieving these) include Gas qualifications Domestic & Commercial (Domestic CCN1, CENWAT, CKHB1, etc. Commercial COCDN1, CIGA1, CORT1, CPA1, DAH1, ICPN1, HTR1, TPCP1 and CONGLP1PD LPG Changeover) and preferably plumbing qualifications (City and Guilds Level 3, Unvented water regulations G3). We are looking for someone with a full clean UK driving licence and be willing to travel and stay away, when necessary. A proactive approach to problem solving and a commitment to delivering exceptional service, combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team, are essential.
