Position Summary:

Segue Technologies, Inc. seeks a Database Developer to provide production and database development for an Oracle database supporting a business application for the Air Force acquisition community. Key areas for this role are Database Development (60%), Oracle Database Administration (25%), and Linux Administration (15%).  The position is a full-time remote position; the candidate will be required to attend weekly meetings at Randolph Air Force Base, TX. Due to COVID-19, in-person meetings are temporary on hold.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement highly complex database applications to accommodate a wide variety of user needs
• Perform database backups and restorations within the environment
• Analyze and determine informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow, and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities
• Install Oracle RDBMS
• Security hardening as per Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)
• Setup Oracle audit
• Setup Oracle backups
• Perform system/database administration tasks related to installation, configuration, security hardening, patching, and tuning of Linux operating systems and Oracle databases/instances
• Use existing technologies to include Shell, SQL, PL/SQL, and other Linux and Oracle utilities and packages
• Analyze the data stored in the database and make recommendations relating to the performance and efficiency of that data storage
• Database design (preliminary)
• Data modeling and optimization
• Complete server checks daily, weekly, and monthly using checklists
• Facilitate monitoring of system performance
• Monitor operating system (the support team does patching)
• Recommend and, upon approval, implement optimization modifications
• Complete checklist data with reportable information on the system up or downtimes
• Assist the customer by analyzing and troubleshooting the user’s issues by using Tier 2 or 3 collected troubleshooting techniques
• Serve as liaison between users and Team Segue on database/software issues
• Write, test, and validate queries and reports before deployment
• Maintain system databases, related equipment, and associated project enterprise resources
• Define logical attributes and inter-relationships and designs data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance, and accessibility
• Additional tasks as required

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Systems, Software Engineering or another technical field, or related major (Relevant technical experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree)
• 5+ years of experience as an Oracle System Database Administrator/Developer
• Oracle expertise to configure Oracle to a fully operational/stable state
• Strong experience developing software in a relational database environment and understanding of relational theory/methods
• Ability to read, understand, and develop relational data models
• Strong experience developing SQL and Oracle PL/SQL software
• Good knowledge of Oracle Packages, Procedures, and Functions architecture/constructs related to software development in PL/SQL
• Good understanding of ETL processes related to data warehousing and external data interfaces in an Oracle PL/SQL environment (SQL Loader, Triggers, Constraints, and other relational objects)
• Experience with Oracle utilities, such as RMAN, SQL Loader, Data Pump, etc.
• Good analysis, problem-solving, testing/debugging skills
• Linux Shell scripting experience
• Ability to communicate Linux issues in support tickets to the operating system support
• Ability to research/troubleshoot problems as they arise
• Good time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects and/or operational emergencies
• Ability to install products as required on pre-production servers
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security + or higher-level certification) within three months of hire
• US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance
