What you’ll be doing:

**This role is home based but there is a requirement to be on site in Portsmouth for 3 days per week for the duration of the project**.

• Understanding different user types and analysing their needs, including accessibility and assisted digital needs.
• Contribute to the creation of sitemaps, user flows and customer journey maps.
• Creating and prioritising user personas and user stories in collaboration with the product team.
• Developing prototypes to exercise key user journeys, whether lo-fidelity wireframes or high-fidelity designs using a prototyping tool.
• Supporting in the planning, designing, and completion of usability testing sessions.
• Taking the lead on ‘show and tell’ sessions with our clients to demonstrate what we are learning and what we are building.
• Contributing to business cases and impact assessments for service improvements, taking part in presentations to explain these as needed.
• Communicating design ideas and prototypes to developers.

Managing and reporting to project stakeholders, while also managing your time across other teams

What we’re looking for:

• Demonstratable experience in a UX role or similar
• Strong working knowledge of UX/UI principles and methodologies
• Familiarity with user research, usability testing and analytics data
• Familiarity with information architecture (IA), wireframes and prototypes
• Experience with wireframing and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Axure, XD
• Good understanding of interaction design, including common UI patterns
• Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• Knowledge of Gov.uk Service Manual

The Staff Product Designer should be a UX evangelist and is responsible for overseeing various projects across multiple products.  This role will collaborate and align with product and engineering partners. This role contributes to the standardization of process and best practices within the design team and between cross-functional teams. This role participates in planning, goal, and success metrics creation in the design team as well as helping the team to reach the next level. Required Qualifications

Years of Experience in Related Field: 10+ years as an interaction, user experience, or a product designer role

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, HCI, Graphic Design, or other related discipline or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Design/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in user research, user needs evaluation, metrics and measurements, IA, interaction design, prototyping, visual design, stakeholder management, design strategy and planning, and workshop facilitation
• Expert knowledge of design processes and methodology
