Train Driver Training and Skills
To apply to be a train driver, you must be at least 20 years old. Moreover, you must have achieved 4 or higher (C or above) in your English and Maths GCSEs. Before starting your training as a trainee train driver, you will also be required to undergo a medical examination to check your vision and hearing. On-the-job training usually lasts one to two years before you’re qualified to drive a train without supervision.
