Cross Resourcing are partnering with a well-established professional services firm based in Edinburgh to recruit a Senior Tax Assistant to join their team.

We are looking to speak to candidates with experience in a similar role with proven experience in preparing personal tax returns ideally within a legal setting.

What you’ll do

  • Manage your own portfolio of clients building and managing relationships
  • Collate and process tax info, prepare personal tax returns, tax liabilities
  • Manage the full process through to submission of returns
  • Provide advice on tax matters to clients
  • Work closely with other internal teams on all client matters
  • Maintain regular contact with your portfolio of clients
  • Attending client meetings, both existing and new
  • Manage HMRC compliance checks
  • Keep internal records up to date ensuring full compliance
  • Provide support to other teams as and when required

What you’ll need

  • Proven experience in the preparation of personal tax returns
  • Experience using Tax software
  • Prior knowledge of working in a professional services firm such as an Accountancy firm or Law firm
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong customer services/stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical mindset
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel and Access

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare invoices for clients using QB templates (both multi-national customers in different currencies and local UK based customers).   
  • Extract invoice information from the project management system (workfront) including both hours/labor revenue and out of pocket expenses
  • Reconciliation of projects over estimate and follow up with project managers on adjustments and credits
  • Update project management system with invoiced amounts
  • Follow up on the accounts receivables and ensure timely collection and recording in QB
  • Enter all vendor bills into QB and coordinate with finance management to ensure vendors are paid timely (both $ and GBP invoices)
  • Reconcile credit card expenses and receipts and ensure entered into QB and billable expenses are entered into project management system (Workfront) timely
  • Trained and assist with BI US/other client US billing
  • Assist UK Director and/or CFO with special projects

 

 

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of general bookkeeping experience including A/P and A/R, preferably in a small company (less than 100 employees). 
  • Agency or marketing industry experience preferred. 
  • Service (labor hours) industry experience required.
