Job Description
The Eligibility Counselor position is responsible for the screening and advancement of accounts potentially eligible for federal, state and county government assistance programs, as well as hospital financial programs. This position reports to the Director of Hospital Services.
1. Screens inpatients to determine program eligibility
2. Obtains signed applications and supporting documents
3. Maintains multiple active case files
4. Meets productivity and quality standards
5. May be assigned other duties by management
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a hospital setting.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Tuesday thru Saturday 8 am to 4:30 pm. Flexibility in days/hours is required, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
Position Pay $14.06 - $15.22 (DOE)
Travel
Local travel to other facilities may be required for this position.
Required Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or GED 4. Type 40 WPM with accuracy
2. Knowledge of HIPAA and EMTALA 5. Skilled in use of keyboard and Microsoft products/format

SUMMARY
Full Time. The case aide’s primary responsibility is to provide administrative support to participants of the SafeLiving Housing department. The case aide also supports the SafeLiving Housing team in the implementation of housing processes and procedures to ensure quality service delivery to housing participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in building and maintaining relationships with landlords/management firms/property owners about available housing; develop and maintain housing availability resource list, and negotiate rents and deposits on behalf of the client.
Assist in screening and process for incoming program candidates.
The completion of necessary assessments and documentation required for program enrollment.
Assist case managers in providing referrals and resources to program participants.
Assist in conducting housing inspections and assist with completion
Review of initial move in documentation and monthly rent requests.
Review quarterly participant recertification documents.
Provide housing location services that include helping the client find appropriate housing. Provide advocacy as needed to help address issues and barriers between landlord and participant.
Assist clients with completing rental applications, signing leases, and all other documentation as needed to secure housing.
Documents client contacts in client files and database in a timely manner.
Assist with transportation for apartment search or other appointments as needed.
OTHER DUTIES
In accordance with the team philosophy of the agency, may routinely be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed above.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Sixty college hours or minimum two years of relevant experience. Knowledge in Housing First Model, Housing Tenant Rights and Trauma Informed Care. Experience in and knowledge of family violence theory preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, and interpret documents such as operating manuals and professional journals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and appropriate case notes. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current Texas Driver's License required. Proof of auto liability insurance required.
