Support Worker

Permanent full time Support Workers are required to join our client's vibrant and experienced team within their care homes in Reading. We are interested in hearing from individuals who are caring, conscientious and committed to making a real difference in social care.

Successful candidates will use a person-centred approach to support service users in a residential setting with activities both internal and external to the home, personal care and to attend healthcare appointments.

As you will be working within the home of vulnerable adults who can exhibit challenging behaviour, you will receive a comprehensive training package which you will be paid to attend and supported by our client's experienced senior leaders as you understand the role. The successful candidates will also need to undertake an enhanced DBS check at?no cost to you.

The Role is Shift work: (8pm- 2.15am , 8am -8pm, 2-10pm).

All homes are accessible by public transport

Here are some of the ways you will support our client's service users:

  • Providing the physical, social and emotional care and promoting service user's rights and dignity at all times.
  • Ensuring the service users are encouraged to reach their full potential.
  • Accompanying the service users to activities, appointments, education etc.
  • Assisting with day to day living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping etc.
  • Helping with personal care such as supporting with showering, toileting and dressing.

Our Senior Residential Support Workers carry out an essential and varied role to provide the individual, bespoke, support required by the children and young people in our care. You will lead children in activities, complete relevant paperwork, deliver personal care, undertake household tasks, and where appropriate administrate medication.

Already qualified to NVQ3 in Health & Social Care, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, able to work with emotional needs and challenging behaviour, and be motivated to provide a safe, caring environment where every child can thrive.

Acorn Cottage is an Ofsted ‘Good’ registered 6 bed residential provision for boys aged between 7-18 with Social Emotional Mental Health challenges (SEMH) We require a Residential Support Worker to join our team. Based in Tadley, you can easily reach the services from Basingstoke, Newbury, Slough, Reading and the surrounding areas. Acorn Cottage is set in a rural location in North Hampshire, offer holistic models of care and education for the residents, which is designed to provide an enriching and positive environment.
