With the reality of high rents and burdensome tuition fees, gone are the days when students could reasonably expect to devote 100% of their time to partying, sleeping, and -occasionally- studying. Happily, student jobs are various and they don't all involve working in the Union bar. When looking for work as a student, you usually have the advantage of a fairly flexible timetable and minimal outside responsibilities, meaning that with a little dedication, finding part time work shouldn't be too tricky.

Student Job Education Requirements

Given the diversity of jobs available for students, the basic educational requirements are equally as wide ranging. Part-time jobs, such as those in the hospitality industry, may hire based purely on experience already gathered. teaching job, teaching English to kids or adults either abroad or at home in the UK. Exam supervision at a local school can also be an easy way of earning cash in a temporary role.

Student Job Salary Information

Unless the job is part of your studies or internship, any school-leavers over the age of 18 are entitled to the minimum wage (£5.30 since Oct 2015). Depending on the industry and nature of the part time job, earnings can really vary. It makes sense to spend some time budgeting your earnings – especially if the part time work is seasonal. A good way to earn money while at university without compromising your studies is by working through the holidays- some jobs even allow you to travel.
