Key Responsibilities and Skills

 

The responsibilities of this role will require working in all aspects of the Accountancy profession such as bookkeeping, accounts production and Tax. You will be directly responsible to the Managing Partner.

 

The senior role requires:

 

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Preparing working papers and annual accounts for sole traders and owner managed SMEs
  • Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with UK FRS 105 and FRS 102A
  • Prepare corporation tax returns for our clients with small-sized companies
  • Review VAT returns and submissions
  • Communicating with clients
  • Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients
  • Supervise a team of accountants and train staff as appropriate.

  • Previous experience in a similar position
  • Work confidently with various computer and accounting software ideally with Xero.

You will be reporting to the Assistant Controller, and will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely generation of the financial statements and management reports. You will be responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks that include; month-end close, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, for the UK entities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Review and approve all AP transactions prior to transfer to the GL
- Develop robust procedures to process, reconcile and report Service and Funded Development revenue
- Work with the R & D Management team to compile and reconcile all the necessary detail required to support the annual R & D tax credit claims
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries
- Assist with first draft of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Review and reconcile VAT and prepare the quarterly return and payment
- Complete periodic National Statistic Reports
- Develop and prepare detailed reports in response to internal management and internal/external audit requests
- Assist with preparation of detailed supporting documents for UK Corporation Tax
- Provide support to special projects, workflow process improvements, and special reporting requests
- Provide cover for the other Senior Accountant within the department.
Key requirements:
- Part / recently qualified Accountant

The Role:
