Locally, it provides clinical services to a combined population of nearly two million people in eight London boroughs. This role would be predominantly based in Southwark- MaudsleyHospitalwith the opportunity to work extra shifts across the Trusts’ other sites and any of our partner Trusts.

The Trust has its own Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) in association with King’s College London. Together, they aim to translate scientific developments into new ways of screening, detecting, treating and preventing mental illness. This research has led the Trust to work in the recovery model, which aims to help people get well and stay well so they can achieve their full potential.

    These posts are based at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidates will be primarily based at our Level 1 Major Trauma Centre at Aintree University Hospital. The Major Trauma Fellow takes part in a 1 in 21 general on call attracting a weekend allowance of 5%; a night premium with allowance for leave; and an availability uplift of 8%. Once their competencies have been assessed the Trauma Fellows take part in a 1 in 8 weekend trauma list. The weekend trauma lists facilitate the successful candidates to acquire training and non technical list running skills. These lists are remunerated as extra payments.

    The Service requires an enthusiastic and committed surgeon to work within the Trauma Centre. The ability to work flexibly and as a team will be essential, with good communication skills to relate to both fellow staff and patients. This enables the successful candidate to experience the whole range of experience offered by the department. The Major Trauma Fellow will work with both the Pelvic and Acetabular and Limb Reconstruction Teams. The Trauma Fellows will gain experience across the all sub-specialities including metastatic tumour work.

    The Orthopaedic Directorate has a proven track record in research with high level of national and international conference papers/presentations as well as published papers in peer reviewed journals. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to on going research projects within their dedicated research sessions.

    The salary for this post will that of a SpR and according to previous reckonable equivalent service. Applications should be at a Specialist Registrar Grade or equivalent and ideally near to completing their Higher Specialist Training. Candidates are expected to have prior experience in primary hip and knee arthroplasty. The successful candidates will be required to be registered with the General Medical Council and hold a License to Practice. Possession of FRCS Orth or equivalent qualification is essential. All Doctors are responsible to maintain a portfolio of their career over the last five years in order to satisfy GMC revalidation criteria. If successful, you will be required to bring along your supporting information portfolio including recent appraisals documents when joining the Trust.

    The Occupational Health & Safety Service (OHSS) at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is appointing a full time consultant to join our dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking team. The OHSS is currently involved in many exciting initiatives and are looking for an individual with appropriate skills to complement this team and help keep the service in the forefront of clinical and academic excellence.

    The position is to provide 1.0 whole time equivalent consultant (10 PA) with the potential to consider job share or part time working. In addition to general clinical work, the post-holder will contribute to the clinical governance and will act as clinical and educational supervisor to Occupational Medicine trainees.

    Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) is one of the largest hospital Trusts in Britain and in Europe, having formed the Academic Health Sciences Centre in 2009, following amalgamation with King’s College Hospital, the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College London, and the Institute of Psychiatry.

    OHSS have been provided from both the Guy’s and St Thomas’ sites for nearly 40 years. The present OH Service is one of the largest and most advanced in Britain, and the first NHS service to be SEQOHS- accredited. We provide services to the Trust, to regulated students of King’s College London and to a number of other NHS and non-NHS institutions. We are committed to training nurses and doctors; there are presently four specialty registrars, and three nurses training in Occupational Health.

    OHSS provides a full range of occupational health service. OHSS lead the GSTT health and wellbeing programme and is also heavily involved in large scale research.

    The post holder may deliver part of their job plan remotely. The rest of activities are expected to be delivered at the Education Centre, York Road or at the customer’s location.

    Applicants must be able to work well within a multi-disciplinary team and possess strong communication skills to promote innovation, effect change, and communicate effectively with managers and employees. Experience of working in a large complex multi-disciplinary organisation would be an advantage.

    Applicants must have full GMC registration, a licence to practise and be eligible for inclusion on the GMC’s Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training in Occupational Medicine, hold Membership or Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine or a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR), or be within 6 months of achieving this. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. A higher medical qualification such as MRCP or MRCGP would be desirable.

    Main duties of the job

    It is essential that the successful candidate is competent in the effective management of a wide range of Gastroenterology conditions within the outpatient setting in order to see, treat and discharge patients in a timely manner.

    Skills and experience in endoscopy (including therapeutic skills) is essential withJAG accredited competence in upper GIendoscopy and colonoscopy.

    The post holder will work flexibly during the week with a prearranged timetable (with 7 day working imminent) to accommodate clinics to support the wider service and occasionally backfill in endoscopy. They will also support a 1/5 week ward cover rota.

    1. Trauma Fellow: August 2021 for 12 months - 2 posts

    These posts are based at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidates will be primarily based at our Level 1 Major Trauma Centre at Aintree University Hospital. The Major Trauma Fellow takes part in a 1 in 21 general on call attracting a weekend allowance of 5%; a night premium with allowance for leave; and an availability uplift of 8%. Once their competencies have been assessed the Trauma Fellows take part in a 1 in 8 weekend trauma list. The weekend trauma lists facilitate the successful candidates to acquire training and non technical list running skills. These lists are remunerated as extra payments.

    The Service requires an enthusiastic and committed surgeon to work within the Trauma Centre. The ability to work flexibly and as a team will be essential, with good communication skills to relate to both fellow staff and patients. This enables the successful candidate to experience the whole range of experience offered by the department. The Major Trauma Fellow will work with both the Pelvic and Acetabular and Limb Reconstruction Teams. The Trauma Fellows will gain experience across the all sub-specialities including metastatic tumour work.

    The Orthopaedic Directorate has a proven track record in research with high level of national and international conference papers/presentations as well as published papers in peer reviewed journals. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to on going research projects within their dedicated research sessions.

    The salary for this post will that of a SpR and according to previous reckonable equivalent service. Applications should be at a Specialist Registrar Grade or equivalent and ideally near to completing their Higher Specialist Training. Candidates are expected to have prior experience in primary hip and knee arthroplasty.     Summary

    Applications are invited for the post of a less than full time (7PAs) Locum Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at Whittington Health NHS Trust to assist the two existing Consultant Medical Microbiologists in the department. This is a replacement post created to provide clinical leadership for the outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) service. There are additional PAs available to join the South Hub TB service for candidates with relevant TB experience.

    You will have broad Micro/ID training and previous experience in seeing patients in OPAT. You must be an effective and enthusiastic teacher. You must be an effective team player. You must hold Full and Specialist registration (and hold a current a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.     The Department(s)

    Microbiology services at Whittington Health are situated in a modern block on the 5th floor of the Outpatient building of the Whittington Hospital site. All four disciplines of pathology occupy a single floor of the Diagnostic Block. All routine bacteriology and serology specimens are analysed and reported upon within the main laboratory. Specialist virology samples are processed at UCLH and special bacteriology/serology sent to the relevant Reference Centres. Food water and environmental samples for the community are not processed in the laboratory. The Department relates to the Health Protection Unit (HPU) of North East Central London (NCL). Whittington Health is the location of the south hub of the NCL TB network.

    OPAT is delivered from our ambulatory care situated alongside our Emergency department and acute admissions units.

    The consultant will have access to a desk in an office, a WIFI enabled sole use computer and a secretary to support administrational duties.

    Duties of the Post

    At all times you will be expected to work as a member of a team within our Infection/microbiology department. Flexibility, innovation and careful use of resources are all expected qualities in an ID/Microbiology Consultant. A key role will be to assist on delivery of undergraduate education. The Microbiology/Infection team delivers teaching to Y4 UCL clinical students within module 4C.

    Clinical

    The Microbiology/Infection service interacts with all other clinical services. You will be expected to share clinical duties with the other Microbiology medical staff, including:

    • Liaison with clinicians, hospital and community staff and GPs concerning the diagnosis and management of patients and prevention of infection.
    • Daily ward rounds of referred and follow up cases, or patients in whom laboratory or clinical information is considered to require Infection or control of infection, assistance or intervention. This is around 7 patients a day for the ward consult service. There are no named Infectious diseases inpatient beds to be directly looked after.
    • A daily round of all adult ITU patients (11 bedded unit) with ITU medical staff.
    • Maintain daily liaison meetings with Laboratory and Infection Prevention & Control staff.
    • Provide the Infection leadership required to run a 24/7 OPAT service with the already developed OPAT administrational and nursing team in ambulatory care.
    • Lead on a OPAT board round once a week (around 15 patients per week discussed)
    • Attendance at relevant MDTs when requested.

    The Microbiology/Infection team plays an important role in supporting GPs using the open access service. You will work with the other consultants to maintain, and if possible, improve upon this service.

    Shared Laboratory Duties

    • Day-to-day supervision of diagnostic methods and examination of specimens and authorisation and interpretation of the results obtained.
    • Responsibility for quality assurance within the department, including taking part in all relevant national external quality assurance programmes.
    • Responsibility for achieving and maintaining full accreditation of the laboratory with UKAS & Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) Ltd or another equivalent agency.
    • Business planning, including the assessment and introduction of new methods, and forward planning for staff and equipment requirements.
    • Provision of a Consultant on-call service in Microbiology/Infection, 2nd on with a Combined Infection trainee (Consultant on-call 1 in 3, two weeks on and 4 weeks off rotating).
    • You will be required to work 1 IN 5 Saturday mornings (this duty is shared between the medical staff including combined infection trainees and does not include additional commitment due to leave arrangements).

    Infection Prevention & Control

    • Advising on Trust policies for antimicrobial use and infection prevention & control.
    • Co-operating with the HPU in the investigation and prevention of communicable disease in the community.
    • Leading and assisting with outbreaks/post infection reviews (PIR) as required.
    • Attending Infection Prevention & Control Committee meetings bi-monthly.

    Teaching and Training

    • Supervision and training of junior medical staff in medical Microbiology. They will assist in supervision, appraisal and other assessments of two combined Infection trainees on rotation to the Whittington. They would be (following appropriate training) be the Educational supervisor to the Combined Infection trainees.
    • Assist on the delivery of undergraduate year 4C medical student teaching to include bedside teaching, case-based discussion sessions and infection services including assessment and evaluation of education. You will also be expected to play a role in educating postgraduate doctors, nurses and allied health professionals in all specialities and to assist in the induction of all medical staff.

    Laboratory Accommodation and Equipment

    The laboratory has full CPA and UKAS accreditation and is located on the 5th floor of the outpatient building of Whittington health alongside the offices of the three Infection consultants, co-located with blood sciences and histopathology.

    The laboratory uses Winpath and it is linked via Co-surve to regional and national public health surveillance systems.

Locally, it provides clinical services to a combined population of nearly two million people in eight London boroughs. This role would be predominantly based in Southwark- MaudsleyHospitalwith the opportunity to work extra shifts across the Trusts’ other sites and any of our partner Trusts.

    The Trust has its own Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) in association with King’s College London. Together, they aim to translate scientific developments into new ways of screening, detecting, treating and preventing mental illness. This research has led the Trust to work in the recovery model, which aims to help people get well and stay well so they can achieve their full potential.
