Wood Mackenzie is looking for a future focused Software Engineer with excellent problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills to join our industry-leading data analytics company. Our Software Engineers are located across Europe and the US where our teams are working on a next generation, data analysis & visualization platform utilized by our customer to drive billion-dollar decisions.

Role Purpose 

This role will contribute to the implementation of our reimagined product offerings and you  will have the opportunity to contribute to the architecture and the look and feel of the product. This role will require gaining a broad understanding of how teams work across our new product offerings, identifying opportunities. This may range from investigating and delivering deployment solutions to providing front end features in the platform for use across teams.  The goal is to reduce the effort to create consistent high quality product offerings while enabling teams to work and deliver independently.

• Manage changes to requirements and defects with Product Owners and other stakeholders

Your skillset

• Our front end tech stack is predominantly JavaScript and we use technologies such as Typescript, React, Node, Redux.
• Some understanding of Docker and Docker compose
• You should have experience with & passion for modern engineering frameworks and design patterns
• You should take pride in owning and delivering quality solutions, while inviting review and collaboration
• You have experience with version control systems, we currently use Bitbucket
• You can demonstrate a solid knowledge of modern enterprise and cloud architectures (e.g. AWS infrastructure, Microservices, Serverless, Event Driven)
• We believe in continuous delivery and continuous integration, we'd like you to have a real interest and useful experience in this too
• You should have an appreciation for the importance of continuous improvement and maintainability which are at the core of our engineering principles

Delivery & Collaboration       

• We expect our Software Engineers to have a solid basis in software engineering principles and practices, and to own one or more feature set within their Product team
• As an Engineer, we want you to engage with & help us build and maintain our coaching and mentoring culture
• Our engineering teams build and run their Products. As such we expect engineers to assist in troubleshooting and support efforts for their systems and applications, and to be focused on improving these systems and applications
• Our engineering teams are responsible for the overall technical quality of project deliverables
• We expect our engineers to ensure coding, unit testing, system integration, defect resolution, and technical documentation adhere to our standards
• We expect you to be able to manage your own time, and work well both independently and as part of a team

• Guide and mentor team members regarding architecture and best practices
• Review and coach team on project designs for design review presentations
• Ensure all projects that affect the live site are presented in design review

Requirements:

• 15+ years of system architecture experience across multiple languages and frameworks or equivalent experience
• 15+ years’ programming experience with technologies such as Python, Go, Java, C++, SQL
• Proficient in one of the following languages: Java, Go, C/C++"

• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures and problem-solving
