Responsibilities
Pavement Engineering
Perform pavement assessments, where required by the Project Manager and report any defects to project requirements
Identify and scope maintenance, renewal, and improvement projects to overcome pavement issues, adding value and providing fresh thinking
Assist with the management of technical inspections and surveys, to include planning of survey routes, assessment and monitoring of programmes and evaluation of completed surveys
From data provided, assist in the production of Pavement Specifications for Company contracts and to liaise with the project team and where necessary the client.
Asset Management
From an appreciation of Asset Management and experience in delivering in accordance with an Asset Management Policy, assist clients to develop, implement and continuously improve an asset management strategy that delivers efficient and effective maintenance and renewal activities to the pavement.
To support development of a long-term, integrated asset management and value adding approach for pavements. Also, to assist in the development and implementation of an integrated Asset Management System.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
To work closely with commercial and financial business areas to provide technical support to help the wider business understand (whilst identifying and agreeing with all affected stakeholders) the impact of third-party additional works and network improvement schemes on the pavement assets.

Pavement Engineering experience
Familiar with pavement design standards in accordance with the RWSC, DMRB and MCHW.
Familiar with asphalt and concrete mix design.
Proven experience of pavement design, construction, inspection, and investigations.
General understanding of pavement operations, maintenance, and renewal.
Skilled in MS Office applications.
A general Understanding and exposure to real time Asset databases. Willingness to apply skills to new and evolving Asset Management Systems and Tools (Agile / dTIMS).
Field Service Engineer
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will be responsible for meeting the daily service maintenance and repair needs of Sweepers equipment. Establish and maintain proper business relationships with customers and peers as well as performing necessary administrative duties as required.

As a Field Service Engineer for our Survey & Laser department in West Bromwich, you will carry out service calls to the above-mentioned machines, in order to identify and repair any faults or system errors. This is, of course, a routine task for you, with your outstanding technical experience and skillset.
Your technical skills will come to the fore when you establish site controls, install GPS base stations, localise GPS machinery and finally carry out site checks using Leica Total Station and Leica GPS Survey equipment. As a subject matter expert, your knowledge and expertise will be regularly called upon, should operators and engineers need to be trained in the use of Leica Machine Control Equipment. You will certainly be undertaking diverse technical tasks in the role of Field Service Engineer in West Bromwich. You will always be mobile, visiting different places around the UK. Principal Highway Drainage Engineer

Do have a detailed knowledge of highways drainage systems? Do you want to take a leading role maintaining a large network of assets? If so, this is your opportunity to be part of our dynamic team maintaining our highways drainage assets and managing highways flood risk in the borough.
This is a role in Telford & Wrekin Council’s Drainage & Flood Risk Team with responsibility for managing our highways drainage assets. You will be working with contractors to ensure maintenance schedules are delivered and will be identifying capital improvement schemes to manage highways flood risk. We are halfway through an exercise to cleanse and collect data on all 33,000 gullies in the borough to inform a risk based maintenance responsibility so you will work closely with our Term Service Contractor to complete and implement this new strategy using systems like Confirm and Kaarbontech. You will have a strong customer focus and be able to work quickly and efficiently to solve problems and communicate solutions to internal and external parties.
We are looking for degree qualified candidates with demonstrable experience relating to drainage maintenance in a Local Authority setting. You will be responsible for all aspects of Highways Drainage Maintenance including strategy, scheduled and reactive maintenance as well as budget management, customer and contractor liaison. You will be able to use drainage software have experience working as a designer and supervisor for drainage schemes with experience in NEC3. You must be able to provide your own transport with insurance for business use to allow travel to sites and to respond to issues. You will work in a team of engineers and flood risk officers on a variety of tasks in the borough and will deliver a package of schemes as part of the Council’s 4 year investment programme to Protect, Care and Invest in our borough. You should be and able to work autonomously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
