A security officer job could be based on a single site which is regularly patrolled, but it might also involve regular travel between locations, depending on the particular requirement. In general, employers in the field of security are looking for responsible adults with a track record of being reliable. Security Officer Jobs Education Requirements

There are no formal qualifications that are required in order to gain a security officer job. Casual employment as a night watchman or as an out-of-hours caretaker will require no certification. However, those who work for a security firm must be registered with the Security Industry Authority (SIA). SIA licences are also required for security officers who will interface with the public, such as shopping centre security personnel. Gaining SIA accreditation means attending and passing training modules. According to the SIA, there is no current requirement to upgrade this training or to take refresher courses. Criminal record checks are also usually conducted for this sort of work. Applicants should be aged 18 or over.
