We are looking to recruit a new member to the Portering & Security Department at University Dorset Hospitals Foundation Trust within the Poole Hospital Site, to assist in all aspects of the Portering role. 37.5 hours per week relief porter, working as part of a rota which will include weekend, evening and night shifts.

This is a busy and demanding role, which will involve a variety of tasks including but not limited to the following:

Patient Transfers

Security Response

Transporting of medical and non medical equipment and furniture

Transportation and exchange of gas cylinders

Waste collection, disposal and recycling duties

The successful applicant should be able to manage own workload and work with minimal supervision. Self-motivated individuals who can integrate quickly with a highly successful team are key factors of the post. Excellent team skills and flexibility are essential combined with strong interpersonal skills. You will need to be physically able to cope with the demands of this role including the high level of patients transfers in addition to the delivery and collection of equipment used by medical and non medical staff each day.

Please note: if this job requires you to have a DBS check to enable you to properly fulfill the requirements of the job, on appointment you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed from your salary.

Job Description

To deliver results for their identified area that meets or exceeds the budget and service delivery requirements through full responsibility and accountability for:

Candidates must have access to reliable transport car/bike as the role will require travel to multiple different Sainsburys Sites including Supermarkets and Convenience/Local stores.


They will also require the candidate to work a variety of shifts from 07:00am until Midnight in some locations over a 5 over 7 day shift pattern including Saturdays and Sundays on a regular basis.

 

 

To protect customers and colleagues from physical and verbal abuse •To deter violence and public order offences
To patrol the store and other areas and to undertake checks in accordance with the site assignment instructions

Qualifications

Mitie has a great opportunity in Qinetiq, Portland .  We are looking for an experienced security officer to join the team on site,  you will take a lead role on site on a daily basis. Your shift pattern will be discussed at interview with a pay rate of £8.78. You will report into the sites security operation’s manager.

Main Duties

  • The security officer will demonstrate their character as determined, trustworthy, attentive and approachable at all times when welcoming clients and customers – ensuring ID badges are created, allocated and collected when appropriate.
  • As the first point of contact for to all customers and clients, the Security Agents must have geographically aware of their local surroundings.
  • Must be able to man the phones, emails, IT systems, CCTV and Alarms, Doors and Car park if need be.
  • The security officer must spot and stop all suspicious sightings or potential criminal activity and retain full control until the arrival of emergency services.
  • Report to the Security Operations Manager – they must record, report and escalate all sightings and arrests on a regular basis.
