The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust (MYHT), in partnership with The University of Huddersfield has developed a ground-breaking and exciting opportunity for Clinical Academic Research Nurses to join our Trust. Post holders will undertake a funded applied health sciences Masters in research, alongside working in clinical practice within the Division of Medicine for Elderly Care.

The Clinical Academic Research Nurse will lead a research project which will have a focus around improving patient care and experience contributing to the MYHT Health Care Professionals Research Strategy. Allowing the successful applicants the opportunity to pursue innovative nursing practice and to strengthen the evidence base for professional practice at MYHT. Furthermore giving the applicant the opportunity to lead change in practice and gain a funded post graduate qualification essential for the development into a leadership/ specialist role in their future career.

The Clinical Academic Research Nurse role will be based at MYHT for 50% of the role, providing effective patient centered care in the Division of Medicine for Elderly. The remaining 50% of the post will be working with the academic nursing team at the University of Huddersfield. The University will support you to undertake the MYHT research project whilst completing a funded Masters by Research. Alongside this you will spend one day per week supporting other academic projects linked to nursing, health and wellbeing. The Clinical Academic Research Nurse will have expert support, guidance and supervision throughout the duration of projects.

Enrolment onto a post graduate research degree at The University of Huddersfield will be April or September 2021. Infectious Diseases Research Nurse

There is an exciting opportunity for a Research Nurse to work within the Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Team at the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post is full time, though part time/job share will be considered.

The individual will join the already established team of Principal Investigators and Research Nurses.

Role summary

The research nurse will be responsible for the day to day running of research studies including screening of potential patients, recruiting patients into studies according to agreed protocols, assisting in the informed consent process and management of all the study related data.

The research nurse must have the ability to work independently, to prioritise their own workload and to communicate effectively with all members of the research team with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Experience within infectious diseases is an advantage, though not essential as training will be provided.

The key skills required will be communication, organisation and teamwork. Effective organisation of time and records will be essential; projects will span clinical and laboratory domains.

All clinical research activity must be compliant and conducted in accordance with European Union (EU) Directive, ICH/GCP International Conference on Harmonisation and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

An exciting opportunity has become available for a research nurse to join CRN Diabetes Research Nurse team based at OCDEM.

The team at OCDEM are successful and experienced, supporting a large number of academic and commercial studies. The success of the team has been acknowledged with the receipt of multiple awards from the CRN. The post holder will provide support for a number of studies, enabling the team to maintain and expand the diabetes research portfolio. In addition to day to day support of research studies - patient identification and recruitment, sample collection and handling, and trial administration - the post holder would be expected to support and promote involvement in clinical research through a variety of initiatives. On occasion, the post holder would be expected to support paediatric diabetes research studies; therefore applicants with paediatric experience would be welcomed. The post would suit a dynamic and enthusiastic person with an interest in diabetes that is looking to develop their skills to support a career in clinical research. This post is funded and supported by the Thames Valley and South Midlands Clinical Research Network, part of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The post is funded for 18 months in the first instance with the possibility of extension to this funding period. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join the Clinical Trials Team as a Senior Research Nurse. The successful candidate will be based in the sunrise centre, working with the established oncology research team, and the larger multi-disciplinary team. Ongoing education and development is actively encouraged and offered continually. There are also opportunities to attend local, national and international meetings and conferences.

This post will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to significantly develop their research/clinical skills and knowledge base.

The Role

Key roles and responsibilities of a Senior Clinical Research Nurse are as follows -

  • Completing all relevant clinical competency training assessments and attending all relevant research study protocol training and completing all mandatory training, according to the Synexus COP’s/SOP’s
  • Performing all visits, observations, safety reporting and interventions with participants in accordance with procedures and schedule of the study protocol, company SOP’s and policies
  • Carrying out pre-screens efficiently and effectively to optimise patient recruitment

Post holders will undertake a funded applied health sciences Masters in research, alongside working in clinical practice within the Division of Medicine for Elderly Care.

The Clinical Academic Research Nurse will lead a research project which will have a focus around improving patient care and experience contributing to the MYHT Health Care Professionals Research Strategy. Allowing the successful applicants the opportunity to pursue innovative nursing practice and to strengthen the evidence base for professional practice at MYHT. Furthermore giving the applicant the opportunity to lead change in practice and gain a funded post graduate qualification essential for the development into a leadership/ specialist role in their future career.

The Clinical Academic Research Nurse role will be based at MYHT for 50% of the role, providing effective patient centered care in the Division of Medicine for Elderly. The remaining 50% of the post will be working with the academic nursing team at the University of Huddersfield. The University will support you to undertake the MYHT research project whilst completing a funded Masters by Research. Alongside this you will spend one day per week supporting other academic projects linked to nursing, health and wellbeing. The Clinical Academic Research Nurse will have expert support, guidance and supervision throughout the duration of projects.

Enrolment onto a post graduate research degree at The University of Huddersfield will be April or September 2021.
