In this role, you will protect the customer's employees, property and other assets
Deliver the highest levels of customer service which promotes Securitas' core values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness.
This role will cover a shift pattern of days, nights and weekends varying from 8 to 12 hours each shift,
You will work a baseline of 40 hours per week, with the availability for overtime.
This position will require travel between 2 of our sites.
You must have a full SIA licence to be considered for this position.
How you will make an impact as a Relief Security Officer:
  • Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site.
  • Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV.
  • Conduct external and internal security patrols.
  • Carry out routine tests of security equipment.
  • Maintain all logbooks and records, ensuring all paperwork is completed in a timely fashion and conduct effective handover procedures. Record and report all faults, health and safety hazards and unsafe working practices to management.
  • Provide support, guidance and information to all staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Report any usage of First Aid equipment and shortfalls in the contents of First Aid boxes.
  • Report instances of property at risk of being lost, stolen, damaged and/or vandalised.
  • During patrols, switch off unnecessary lights and close windows.
  • Display an outstanding level of customer service.
  • Display the highest standard of personal presentation to maintain the image of Securitas and the customer.
  • Identify opportunities for improving practices and processes.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by Management.

Essential Skills

  • What you will bring to be a Relief Security Officer:
    • A valid SIA Licence
    • Right to work in the UK and have a five-year checkable employment history or be able to produce documentary evidence of any period of unemployment
    • No current criminal convictions.
    • A full UK driving licence and own transport due to location of client's sites.
    • Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus.
    • Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Be punctual and reliable.
    • Be willing and able to work shifts covering days, nights and week-ends

A Security Officer is responsible to deliver Security Services, encompassing Guarding, Surveillance and Interventions.

How you will make an impact as a Security Officer:
  • Undertake the day to day tasks to maintain a secure and safe site maintaining a fully focused and compliant operation which exceeds the client's expectations.
  • Managing access control and gate duties; staff and vehicle searches; traffic management and car park duties; building patrols.
  • Providing an effective departmental security presence and proactive response service.
  • Monitoring of fire and security alarm panels.
  • Adhering to the communication requirements, records of delivery and maintenance of all other required gate records.
  • Responding too and dealing with all site risk events.
  • Carrying out fire prevention duties.
  • Ensuring all Client Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators are met.
  • Promoting a professional image of Securitas.

Essential Skills
What you will bring to be a Security Officer:
  • Hold a valid SIA license.
  • Provide the right to work in the UK and pass security clearance.
  • Be able to work as an individual & as part of a team.
  • Be able to work outside in all 4 seasons - Winter, Spring, Autumn & Summer.
  • Be able to communicate clearly, verbal & written.
  • Hold a clean full UK driving licence

Within this opportunity, you will provide executive security services in line with the assignment instructions and client requirements in order to protect the clients' employees, property and other assets.

Ensuring the security and safety of Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Services’ buildings, employees, legal professionals and visitors.

You will be responsible for protecting the security and safety of the identified buildings and personnel at a busy client site. You will ensure that assigned tasks are completed in a professional and timely manner and meet relevant legislations, ensuring the needs of all internal and external customers are fulfilled.

As part of this role, you will be required to undertake an appropriate and fully-funded apprenticeship programme, as part of OCS’s commitment to your professional development in the security industry.

Your main responsibilities may also include:

  • Control of access doors and gates to ensure that only authorised persons and vehicles are permitted access.
  • Working with a team, conduct Physical search of all Court users Conducting entry searches of all persons entering buildings via public entrances (or any member of the public entering via any other entrance) by means of archway metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors and visual searches of bags, parcels and containers to ensure that no weapons, explosive devices or other prohibited items are brought on to the premises.
  • Testing Security Systems, and accurately recording the data to ensure fully operational at the start of every day, archway metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors.
  • Prevention of and attending to and dealing with security incidents.
  • Assisting to ensure the correct and agreed evacuation procedures are followed by all members of the public in the event of an emergency including the identification of a suspect package or a fire.
  • Control & Restraint of violent and aggressive court users, preventing or excluding persons from secure parts of the building or environment.
  • Carry out instructions from members of the Judiciary to attend court and in some circumstances remove individuals from the Court or Court Room.
  • Respond rapidly to personal attack panic alarms throughout the building.
  • Testing of Alarm Systems, and accurately recording the data to ensure fully operational including fire alarms and personal attack alarms.
  • Carrying out regular patrols of the building and its environment as required.
  • Acting as a first line support to employees and site visitors, providing a professional and friendly service.
  • Issue and collection of visitors and contractors’ passes and escort of visitors and contractors.
  • Operation of and monitoring CCTV equipment.
  • Supervision of contractors and cleaners etc. in secure areas.
  • Opening up the building at the start of the day.
  • Closing down securing the building at the end of the day and setting the alarm System and acting as key holder for emergency call out purposes.
  • Maintaining records – Equipment checks, confiscated items, Incident reports etc.
  • Maintaining security of keys and control of issue to authorised personnel.
  • Service area barrier control and traffic management.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

  • Willing to travel between sites, up to an hour each way
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Door Supervisor SIA licence - essential
  • Experience of working within the Security Industry – advantageous
  • CCTV licence - advantageous but training can be provided
  • Driving licence and use of own vehicle is required
  • Be confident with the use of a mobile phone

  • Conducting entry searches of all persons entering buildings via public entrances (or any member of the public entering via any other entrance) by means of archway metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors and visual searches of bags, parcels and containers to ensure that no weapons, explosive devices or other prohibited items are brought on to the premises, including undertaking a test of the search of equipment at the beginning of every day.
  • Prevention of and attending to and dealing with security incidents, including undertaking searches and ensuring the correct and agreed evacuation procedures are followed by all members of the public in the event of an emergency including the identification of a suspect package or a fire.
  • Carrying out regular patrols of the building and its environment as required.
  • Acting as a first line support to employees and site visitors, providing a professional and friendly service.
  • Issue and collection of visitors and contractors’ passes and escort of visitors and contractors.
  • Preventing or excluding persons from secure parts of the building or environment.
  • Operation of and monitoring CCTV equipment.
  • Supervision of contractors and cleaners etc. in secure areas.
  • Regular checks to ensure that security/safety equipment is fully operational, including fire alarms, personal attack alarms, archway metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors.
  • Opening up the building at the start of the day.
  • Closing down securing the building at the end of the day and setting the alarm System and acting as key holder for emergency call out purposes.
  • Maintaining security of keys and control of issue to authorised personnel.

  • Communicate regularly with staff through formal and informal channels on safety matters to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and that morale remains high.

Mitie has a great opportunity in Glasgow.  We are looking for an experienced Officer to join the team on site. Your shift pattern will be discussed in the interview. You will report into the sites security operation’s manager.

Relief Security Officers must be available to cover various shift patterns as well as being flexible in their approach to working locations and potential changes to working patterns.  

Paying £9.50 per hour 


This role would be ideal for an experienced officer looking to add variety to their working experience. Having the flexibility to work across a number of sites will allow the successful candidate to continue to develop their career by adding the experience of working within different sectors of the security industry.

Duties will include:

  • Conducting shift handover procedures at the start and end of each shift to ensure all matters of concern or note occurring during a shift are passed on for the purposes of service and incident management continuity
  • Writing complete and accurate handover and incident reports and taking appropriate action as required on all reports passed to you at the commencement or during a duty shift
  • Ensuring the safety and security of our clients’ buildings and assets by carrying out all duties in full adherence with the Site Assignment Instructions.
  • Working as part of a team to provide Conflict Resolution assistance at client premises where there is potential for conflict
  • Greeting, assisting and directing members of the public visiting the premises of our clients
  • The relief security officer will demonstrate their character as determined, trustworthy, attentive and approachable at all times when welcoming clients and customers – ensuring ID badges are created, allocated and collected when appropriate.
  • As the first point of contact for to all customers and clients, the Security Agents must have geographically aware of their local surroundings.
  • Travel to various corporate/shopping center client sites to cover sickness, holiday and provide support to the core team when required.
  • Must be able to man the phones, emails, IT systems, CCTV and Alarms, Doors and Car park if need be.
  • The relief security officer must spot and stop all suspicious sightings or potential criminal activity and retain full control until the arrival of emergency services.
  • Report to the Security Operations Manager – they must record, report and escalate all sightings and arrests on a regular basis.

Person Specification

  • Door Supervision or Security Guarding License essential.
  • 5 year work history Vetting essential before start position. 
  • The relief security officer will need to be a team player with an enthusiastic attitude.
  • The relief security officer should be able to work on own initiative.
  • Corporate Security experience.
  • Ability to travel to various sites.
  • Flexible Approach to work to suit business needs.
  • Excellent communication skills are required both written and verbal.
  • It is important the Security Officer is calm under pressure.
