The Position
Key responsibilities include:
  • Generating test plans and test cases
  • Contributing to the product specification, ensuring it is sufficient to develop comprehensive test plans
  • Implementing and executing test plans using python automation where practical
  • Maintaining test plans and automation, implementing improvements where required
  • Providing test results and traceability in product release meetings
  • Contributing/leading to the continual test methodology improvements

Requirements
You will have proven experience of delivering software based products and be able to demonstrate technical expertise in one or more areas.
  • Experience in software and hardware system test / validation is desirable
  • Strong OO scripting skills, ideally in python
  • A good degree in a relevant subject or demonstrably excellent technical skills & knowledge
  • Proven ability to work effectively in an agile team at all phases of product development
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with good attention to detail
  • Interest in consumer IoT, cloud and app solutions

Job Description

Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Quality Assurance Technician within the Production Department of the Marshall Land Systems Business. This position will support the Engineering and Manufacturing areas, and is open to applicants with either Quality or Manufacturing experience. Training will be provided in the appropriate standards, regulation and techniques.

This interesting and challenging role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Inspect components, sub-assemblies and finished products at process stages to ensure the delivered items meet the appropriate specification and company workmanship standards, and generate and process Non-conformance documentation where required.

  • Conduct inspections of supplied components against drawings, appropriate specifications and process Non-conformance documentation where required.

  • Investigate any quality issues to identify root cause and raise appropriate corrective action paperwork, ensure issues are addressed and drive the improvements.

  • Conduct and manage appropriate tests to verify product and component performance.

  • Undertake calibration of basic measuring equipment.

  • Produce KPI feedback on performance in areas of responsibility.

  • Support Quality Engineers to collate product data pack information.

  • Manage project activities in line with agreed time budgets.  

  • Maintain electronic drawing register and distribute drawings to Production.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Substantial experience of operating in an ISO9001 Quality Systems environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication to clearly express facts, views and ideas.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and suggest potential design improvements.

  • Knowledge of quality inspection and auditing principles.

  • Must be competent in use of basic measuring equipment e.g. Vernier, micrometer etc.

  • Hold a full UK driving license. Willing to visit Customer/Supplier, ad hoc meetings.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes. Including: - MIG and TIG welding, joining technology, metal fabrication techniques, electrical and pneumatic systems, machining techniques and painting systems.

  • Weld Inspection experience to CSWIP3.0.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems e.g. IFS, CMM or laser scanning.

QA Test Engineer (Manual / Regression Testing Embedded) *Remote interview WfH*. Would you like to join a well-funded technology scale-up and collaborate with a team of highly talented software engineers to bring a unique tech for good product to market?
As a QA Test Engineer you will help ensure the quality of the core product, a complex mathematically based C++ algorithmic software that can be used on a range of devices to process audio, such as hearing aids and IoT home devices.
Day-to-day you'll be hands on testing of prototypes or PIs and testing audio recordings; you'll develop test setups and prototype boards, embedded CPUs and mobile devices, generate good quality bug reports and document test procedures. You'll be performing manual regression testing to ensure the quality of existing software and will also gain exposure to developing automated tests with Python.
The company has just received significant funding and has signed a deal with a major electronics manufacturer; this is an excellent opportunity to join as they scale. You'll be based in modern offices near Cambridge City centre with a quiet, relaxed working environment and core hours of 1000 to 1600; driven by technology the company can currently offer a remote interview and onboarding process and work from home with the expectation to do a mix of office based and WFH going forward.

Ability to script in some of these languages: Bash, Python, CommandShell/PowerShell,

Test results analysis and reporting using various reporting tools or scripts
Familiarity and understanding of the Agile Scrum process
