The Company:

They are a full commercial fit out and refurbishment service operating throughout the South West, with a wealth of experience in specialist industrial environments.

They are now looking to recruit an Experienced Construction Project Manager to join their commercial team.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Plan and coordinate a project from start to finish, including organising the schedule of work, costings, and budget.
• Plan the work and oversee the buying of necessary materials and equipment.
• Oversee the management of the construction site on a day-to-day basis, including supervising the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work, and overseeing quality control.
• Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress.
• Check design documents with architects, surveyors, and engineers.
• Promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being followed.
• Write project reports.
• Maintain regular communication and attend meetings with clients and their representatives to inform them of progress on the project, i.e. stakeholder management.
• Communicate with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and others involved in the project.
• Deal with any unexpected problems that may occur during the project.
• Manage all relevant personnel for the project.
• Produce and manage work programmes for project.
• Assist in hiring staff for the project including CV analysis and carrying out interviews.
• Lead and manage Quantity Surveyors on pricing of future works related to the project.
• Management of project PM’s producing cost reports, applications for payment and NEC or JCT contract management.

Candidate Requirements:

• Must be confident in delivering projects to the value of £5-10m+
• Knowledge of NEC3 Contract Administration.
• Strong communication skills - for liaising with a wide range of clients, professionals, and workers on site.
• Leadership skills and an ability to motivate your team to ensure a high standard of work.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills - for writing and monitoring project plans and schedules and utilising time and resources effectively.
• Resilience and problem-solving skills - to overcome unexpected challenges during the construction process.
• An ability to make decisions under pressure, so that the project can progress.
• Strong attention to detail for conducting site inspections and managing complex contracts.
• An awareness of health and safety procedures and legislation - for running a safe construction site.
• Sound commercial awareness - to allocate and manage your budget effectively and to understand client concerns.
• Numerical and IT skills, including knowledge of relevant building methods and project management software to manage information and finances during the project.
• CSCS Card.
• Relevant qualifications in Project Management.

This is an exciting time to join the G4S Facilities Management Team at Hinkley Point C. We are three years into our ten year contract, working on the largest construction site in Europe.

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Construction and operation of Hinkley Point C will create 25,000 employment opportunities, up to 1,000 apprenticeships and 64% of the project’s construction value is predicted to go to UK companies. There are currently over 4,000 workers on site.

Role Overview

The Air Conditioning Engineer role will be a hands on position where you will be required to respond to and carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive works as standard.

The successful candidate will be mobile across a range of HPC sites where you will diagnose faults on all types of AC systems, ranging from standard back-to-back splits to bigger VRV/VRF and close control systems.

Although the role will involve predominately air conditioning, an understanding of extraction and supply ventilation, from kitchen AHU’s to MVHR heat recovery systems and ASHP would be advantageous, as would knowledge of navigating a BMS onsite system.

Our aim as an FM team is to maintain the equipment on our sites to the highest standard. When problems occur you will rectify or escalate faults accordingly in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

There will be a responsibility to manage your own time and deadlines within a set timeframe of actions. You will co-ordinate this through the onsite CAFM system and ensure works are closed out using detailed reporting outlining works carried out and any further remedial actions required. These actions will be completed using a company issued personal tablet and mobile phone system. You will have an individual responsibility to deliver on PPMs and breakdown tasks within agreed SLAs

You will build good and collaborative working relationships with all our teams, including electrical, plumbing, maintenance technicians, general duties assistants and on site helpdesk team.

This is a full time role working Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Essential Criteria:

• Full driving licence.
• Air conditioning engineer, with qualifications, including F-gas, and experience.
• Preferably some experience of building and facilities maintenance, but not essential.
• Passion and pride in all works carried out and a thirst to exceed within the FM sector.
• Good communication skills.

• Experience investigating causes and recommending solutions
• Technical Through Life Support experience

• Define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.
• Securing the required resources to meet their project requirements. 
• Developing and executing effective execution strategies and plans in line with the overall Programme Execution Plan (PEP), setting out how the programme of work will be managed, organised and executed. 
• Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and execute the project or PEP strategies within their contract or package of work.  
• Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements. Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - deliver progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters.
• Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contract or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues.
• Ensure level 3 schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work. 
• Ensure the List of Deliverables (LOD) relating to the scope of work is delivered.
• Apply the principles of Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Report EV progress to Senior Management on a regular basis. 
• Apply the principles of Continuous Improvement. 
• Ensure that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practised as business as usual. 
• Ensure that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled.

• Track record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector, but alternatively a similar regulated environment. 
• Experience from the construction industry and previous experience in managing the development of a superstructures EP&C is essential, ideally under NEC3/4 contract terms. 
• Demonstrate success in managing/developing: 
  •  Engineering design, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
  • Multi-discipline EPCM projects,
  • Procurement and management of complex contracts,
  • Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools,
  • Management of change and avoidance of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
• Detailed understanding of EPR design and experience. 
• Good knowledge of CDM Regulations & UK HSE legislation.
• Can demonstrate experience of managing project through the project lifecycle from concept to handover.

• Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, physics or another related field. 
• Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled. 
• Working knowledge of French language advantage, but not essential.
