Overview

At Semantics 21, we are on a mission “to develop world-class digital forensics software to uncover, detect and connect data in complex criminal investigations”. We are looking for enthusiastic AI Solutions Developers who enjoy solving problems, and acquiring new skills or expertise while producing novel technology capable of having a significant positive impact on the lives or work of law enforcement investigators and child victims of crime, and on public security. We are looking for the best who can leverage advances in artificial intelligence, together with the available best-practice in digital forensics.

About the work

Main outputs: You will work with our team of experts to create a new generation of sector-leading intelligent tools. These tools will empower investigators; boosting their ability to conduct reliable, comprehensive and fast forensics investigations of digital media artefacts — predominantly in the form of image or video data, but also audio or text data.

Your success, at the end of your first year, will be gauged by: (i) how well you would have produced at least one new AI model, to be integrated into tools for use by investigators; (ii) how effective the model(s) would be in terms of enabling investigators to make better informed decisions or recommendations which are based on deeper insights into the evidence and on more reliable information.

Key responsibilities: You will work within a team, to: research, conceive and build new AI models; evaluate the accuracy of the models; and create tools which support the deployment of the models within commercial-grade software.

Location: When required, you shall work from our main offices, located in Stafford, UK. Work from home may be permitted, subject to prior agreement with Semantics 21. If required, you will attend external meetings or other events; this may include travel overseas.

Start date: As soon as possible. You will be joining Semantics 21 at an exciting time, as we continue to propel ourselves further ahead of the curve, by producing innovative technology and products.

Employment type and remuneration: This is a full-time position. Your salary will be commensurate with skill and experience.

About you

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who:

• have hands-on experience of producing new AI models and evaluating their accuracy.
• can create tools to support the deployment of AI models.
• possess in-depth understanding of current approaches and techniques in AI (including its subsets such as machine learning, natural language processing, …) — for example: deep learning, reinforcement learning, Probabilistic Graphical Models, Bayesian networks, knowledge graphs, ...
• possess strong software engineering skills, to be deployed across the full software development life cycle, including strong object-oriented design skills.
• have solid programming experience in at least one relevant language (such as Python, Java, …) and familiarity with the associated AI or machine learning platforms or toolkits; coupled to a good knowledge of software performance optimisation techniques.
• can adapt to technology changes and can deal with ambiguity, as they arise in the context of ambitious enterprises, like ours.
• can think big, free from the shackles of conventional dogma.
• can thrive in a collaborative and collegiate work environment of a relatively young but established start-up company; with their own independence of mind to propose and shape new ideas.

Audio-Visual Project Engineer

Due to a highly successful first few months of 2021, they are now looking to expand their team by appointing an Audio-Visual project engineer to ensure the technical running of multiple projects throughout Cheshire, London and throughout the UK, including predominantly Audio-Visual and Cinema Rooms, along with Security Systems, Lighting and Heating.

The Role

Leading a team of engineers and sub-contractors to deliver the company’s Audio-Visual solution in their home automation projects.

This role encompasses the delivery of the system from managing the first fix installation, to installing the audio-visual equipment and rack building, programming the system and final handover to the end client.  You will be assisted by a team of engineers and subcontracts who you will need to lead to deliver the projects on time and on budget.

Each day will be varied, the role will be largely site based across their Cheshire projects.  

Responsibilities

•Technical leadership and planning of residential projects within the company portfolio.
•Delivery of multiple, simultaneous projects predominantly across the North West, London, and occasionally overseas.
•Assisting with quotations & design (CAD & D-Tools & Visio).
•Maintaining on-going communications with external stakeholders, from customers to subcontractors.
•Project management and labour forecasting

•Monitor and report on the technical progress on all required deliverables.
•Adherence to deadlines & budgets.
•Completion of work to agreed standard.
•Advise all relevant internal and external parties of any deviation from schedule or budget.

•Forecast & Manage resource (and associated cost) throughout the entirety of each project.
•Provide detailed technical requirements for each project.
•Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the business.
•Support engineers, maintaining drive and focus.
•Promote a mind-set of personal accountability.
•Provide guidance to less experienced team members and apprentice’s - assist with the mentoring and development of staff to reach their maximum potential.

Technical Skills and Required Experience

Mandatory:

•A strong proven technical, audio visual background with at least 4 years’ experience of delivering high-end Audio-Visual systems in the residential market.
•Control4 programming experience. (Crestron, AMX or RTI considered).
•Experience of the project management & delivery cycle of high-end Audio-Visual systems.
•Networking & IT infrastructure skills.
•Commissioning & testing of audio-visual systems.

Desired:

•Use of D-Tools.
•CCTV system design, installation, and commissioning.
•Procedure design & development.
•Staff development – training and the delivery of appraisals.
•Use of CAD.

Salary / package:

The successful candidate will be provided with an equipped company van, laptop computer and mobile phone.

Remuneration: £35,000 – £40,000 DOE

Exceptional candidates would have the opportunity to progress beyond the current pay scales.
