Temporary Works Coordinator

The Role

Tata Steel Strip Products UK is seeking a Temporary Works to join it's Project Engineering and Delivery team and help deliver an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects. Our projects are both strategically important to the UK Strip Steel business and in many cases high value and technologically complex.

This role requires a excellent understanding of temporary works processes, designs and procedures, and how they are applied in use. You should be a problem solver who can work with a large number of stakeholders to agree solutions and help teams achieve a common goal. You should also feel comfortable with data and basic data management tools, to be able to quickly share updates on progress.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of personal and team Health and Safety ensuring that:

  • Ongoing engagement takes place with direct, indirect and contractor teams
• Manage input from multiple projects in relation to the TW requirements, competencies, training and on-site delivery.
• Effectively communicates and collaborates openly with vendors, internal management and other engineers/managers in the Projects and Design Engineering team
• Collaborates in a cross-functional team environment to drive initiatives
• Coordinates resources, provide clear direction and timelines for deliverables, and delegate tasks where appropriate
• Effectively handle multiple priorities to meet all objectives and deadlines

Competencies, Skills and Experience Required

• Key Requirement
• • Chartered civil or structural engineer with minimum of 8 years' experience of all types of temporary works construction processes on site, or:
  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in civil & or structural engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience of all types of temporary works construction process on site, or:
  • Educated to HND / HNC (or equivalent) in civil & or structural engineering with a min of 15 years' experience of all types of temporary works construction processes on site
• Received up to date formal temporary works training
• In depth knowledge of BS 5975:2008+A1:2018
• PAS 8811:2017 & PAS 8812:2016
• Will need to acquire an in depth knowledge of TSSP UK's Temporary Works Policy & Procedures
• Maintain, audit and verify all TW Permits/Certificates on TSSP UK's Electronic Temporary Works register
• NEBOSH Qualified to National General Certificate level
• Engineering knowledge and understanding (ability to read & understand technical drawings and specifications)
• Experience of design principles, current codes of practices
• Experience in a management and or leadership role
• A demonstrated ability to act autonomously with regard to decision making within their area of expertise (ability to identify & agree competencies of proposed TWC's, ATWC's, TWS's, TWD's & TWDC's)
• Ability to verify / audit contracting companies temporary work procedures
• Have a sound knowledge of Health, Safety and Welfare legislation, hazards and safe systems of work.
