What will you be doing?
Starting projects, pushing projects along, trying to wrap up projects, investigating improvements be it better office systems, management info, upgraded fibre internet, best use of land, new lodges, new vehicles, resource allocation and more. The tasks will run the gamut from the everyday to the once in a lifetime. The easy way is not our usual way.
You’ll be on the front line for new buildings, new infrastructure, additional land, more residences, more lodges including eco-lodges, IT innovation, equipment upgrades, e-vehicle charging schemes, e-bike schemes, etc. And then there are your ideas…
Examples of current projects are: Promenade building development scheme; fibre optic internet installation for whole marina; financially viable e-vehicle charging for residents and visitors; bee-hives; lodge development; eco-lodges; realistic and viable energy saving possibilities and new software.
You’ll liaise with architects, planning consultants and planners on development schemes as required. You'll assess possible development projects for financial return, customer demand, likely take-up and feasibility. You'll undertake detailed appraisals of major schemes.
Constantly looking for opportunities to develop the business which will provide benefit for customers and the general public and as a consequence provide profitable growth.
Help determine the optimum technical/engineering solutions.
Develop an overview of existing products, operations and processes and put forward suggestions for improvement.
What experience and qualifications do you need?
Ideally an engineering or technical degree from a good university plus good commercial experience in a decision-making capacity or a good business degree with work experience in an engineering or technical capacity.
Able to undertake detailed financial appraisal of major projects
Creatively minded
Be an admirer of innovative solutions
A track record of achievement
Be keen to take on big developments
Have an international or at least national perspective

JOB DESCRIPTION: Test Engineer / Test Manager – Consumer Goods
We are a new test facility and set up less than 2 years ago in need of a leader to make us the best we can be. You’re currently a hands-on Test Engineer / Test Manager with ideas! You’re a leader! You want to lead from the front and be involved in hands on product testing (rather than being sat in an office report writing). You will know what high quality consumer goods look like (fit, form, function) & you are ready for the challenge of developing our test department to perform at the highest level possible.
Ultimately, you’ll be tasked to get our new products to market quicker.
Our products range from existing redeveloped tools and small machines, to brand new ones - this will keep the role interesting and challenging for you.
This isn’t a firefighting exercise. This is a successful and well-run team of two Test Engineers who need a bit of support and development. You’ll need to learn their strengths and weaknesses, build a plan, and then execute to develop them. There is also great scope for you to grow the team and department.
You’ll also need to be happy managing internal stakeholders - mainly the procurement department.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: Senior Test Engineer / Test Manager – Consumer Goods
· Conduct product testing for fit, form & function of new products & determine if those products meet the product specification.
· Updating product test logs & technical files internally
· Leading the test department, you’ll need to judge a products’ build quality (safety, design, performance & compliance), compile reports & findings on your tests conducted & feedback to buyers & 3rd party manufacturers.
· Create product construction files, declarations of conformity & technical briefs for new & existing products.
· Overall responsibility for ensuring that products, procedures, and documents meet directives, product standards & EU/UK legislation
· Ensure that corrective actions raised on product evaluations are resolved, checked & prioritised.
· Work effectively with third party test houses.
YOUR BACKGROUND: Senior Test Engineer / Test Manager – Consumer Goods
You could already be a Test Manager, having previously been a Test Engineer & developed into a more senior test role.
Or you could be a Senior Test Engineer / Team Leader and are now ready to step up into this role. Maybe, as a Test Engineer you have mentored or supported a Junior Engineer? Or you’ve been involved in continuous improvement within an in-house test department? Either way you think your background is relevant.
· Your experience of performance testing will have covered a variety of electrical &/or mechanical products for the consumer or professional markets.
· You’ll need specific knowledge of the compliance related to the Machinery, EMC and Low Voltage Directives, RoHS, PAH’s and REACH as well as a thorough understanding of product standards, directives & legislation in relation to product design, functionality & safety for relation to electrical & mechanical tools & machinery.
Finally, if as a Test Engineer / Test Manager you have experience with imported electrical consumer products or test houses in the Far East – you’d better understand our processes.

How will you make an impact?
As the Team Leader of a Chemical Manufacturing Team, specialising in Distillation and Blending, you will play a major role in delivering chemicals to Pharma, Academia and other Industrial sectors. This role combines People Management with Technical skills and requires a proactive hands-on approach.
What will you do?
• Manage of a team of Manufacturing Operators, working in a Chemical Manufacturing and Distillation Plant
• Responsible for ensuring safe working practices, in accordance with legislation and company procedures. Competent to undertake risks assessments and COSHH assessments and participate in HAZOPs, leading to safety and process improvements
• Responsible for training and development of your team
• Responsible for organising scheduled batch production to meet delivery date commitments in a fast-paced chemical processing environment
• Own and report team KPI metrics, interrogate data to anticipate and react to performance trends and process variations.
• Be a conduit for communication to and from your team - verbal, written and via digital communication platforms
• Work in partnership with the other Manufacturing Team Leaders, dividing tasks as appropriate
• Work in collaboration with QA, QC, Chemical Development and Engineering to introduce new processes, new products and solve quality and process issues
• Drive Continuous Improvement within the area, with emphasis on Visual Management, 5S and LEAN initiatives. Ensure that high levels of housekeeping are maintained.
