Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. The essential duties and responsibilities:

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices. 
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.  
• Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
  • Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.

The ideal candidate for the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience: 

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Oncology experience strongly preferred.
• Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Work Schedule

• Shift is 7:00 pm-7:00 am, full-time, (3)12 hour shifts, weekends and holidays required

The Registered Nurse will improve the quality of care for the palliative care patient. Patients are admitted to this 16 bed unit for chronic medical and palliative care. The patient population consist of patients with multiple acute chronic diseases requiring aggressive treatment such as Copd, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Infectious Diseases as well as those facing end of life care. The essential job duties of this position are:

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process • assesses the patient • plans the care of the patient • intervenes as appropriate • evaluates the effectiveness of interventions • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care. • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications • Associates Degree in Nursing Required. Completion of BSN within two years of earliest start date in a Texas Health RN role is required.

• BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire • BCLS (AHA) upon hire - expiration date greater than 3 months preferred • CPI training within 60 days of hire • One (1) year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program. • 1+ years of experience as an Med/surg RN and end of life care preferred

Skills • Good computer skills using a medical management application. • Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
