ROLE AND PURPOSE: The Back of House Manager for the Center for the Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) manages and coordinates all operation related activities of the CVPA. ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee all aspects of Back of House venue operations management of the CVPA, as directed by the CVPA Director and AISD Fine Arts Director
  • Facilitate and request budgetary needs for venue operations, responsibly managing allocated district funds
  • Coordinate venue maintenance on-site, as well as with contracted services
  • Efficiently coordinate with venue/event staff for all physical setup/tear down, technical requirements, housekeeping and cleanup, and other duties as assigned
  • Participates in pre-event, post-event and staff meetings regularly
  • Stay current with venue operations trends in similar facilities
  • Other duties as assigned by the CVPA Director and Fine Arts Director

STUDENT MANAGEMENT

  • Serves as stage manager for all campus/community events occurring in venue performance areas
  • Coordinated safety protocols and procedures with local police, fire, EMT, health department, building inspector, and other city entities as needed for events
  • Ensure that clients utilizing venue spaces adhere to event contract/agreement

Each type of loading requires strict attention to order accuracy with respect to loading outgoing trucks and unloading incoming trucks. Works from Electronic order system or order sheets to build loads using a forklift and/or electronic pallet jack. Position is responsible for accuracy in loading and complying with shipper/receiver documentation. Follows warehouse instructions in building loads (). Employees must maintain a clean and safe work environment. Position may be required to work across a wide variety of weather conditions and hours, shift duration depends on work load and may vary daily.
 
Transport truck loading involves moving full pallets of products from the warehouse onto a trailer and removing any returned pallets/plastic flats. Responsible for unloading raw materials and placing them in designated warehouse space.
 
Bulk truck loading involves selecting designated packages and flavors of products from the warehouse and loading them onto a pallet. Position is responsible for maintaining the stability of the pallet through proper stacking and shrink-wrapping. In most cases, pallets are loaded onto a trailer for local delivery. Position is responsible for unloading returned products and pallets/plastic flats.
 
Route truck loading involves selecting designated packages and flavors or pallets of products from the warehouse and loading them into the truck. Product/packages for each truck are customized based on the salespersons order. Position is responsible for unloading returned products and pallets/plastic flats.
 
Position requires lifting a very high volume of cases of product per day from 20-45 pounds per case repeatedly during a long work period. Requires constant standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting reaching and grasping as product is moved.
 
PRIMARY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Drive power pallet jack or forklift to picking area and build pallet/load according to load sheet or voice pick audio equipment (if applicable)
  • Mark load ticket for out of stock items
  • Wrap pallet when pallet/load is finished
  • Turn in paper work with order for check before loading and have truck checked
  • Stage pallet and/or load into truck when ready
  • Complete partial pallets and put away mixed pallets

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor communications via the National Law Enforcement Communication Center radio communications network.
  • Coordinate first responder notification.
  • Answer all telephone calls and document all pertinent information.
  • Receive and transmit communications on National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and the National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (NLETS) inquiries.
  • Monitor intrusion detection systems following automated alarm monitoring software instructions, initiate internal or police response based on defined criteria, accurately capture event information, confirm accuracy of data recorded in the alarm database, and interact with Postal employees including Inspectors, customers, and police departments.
  • Access to various intelligence information as required.
  • Ensure all equipment and software located in the NLECC is functioning properly.  Immediately report any and all equipment malfunctions to the Lead Dispatcher.
  • Knowledge of all NLECC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure proper care for personal accountable items issued for job performance while on site.
  • Monitor after-hours phone traffic
  • Will participate in a 90 day probationary period which includes an evaluation for continued employment.

Qualifications

  • Be a citizen of the United States of America and 21 years of age or older;
  • Have a minimum 6 months previous satisfactory work experience as a law enforcement dispatcher, or dispatcher in civilian or military environments or 6 months experience in central station alarm monitoring or 6 months experience as a security dispatcher.
  • Be capable of maintaining professionalism under highly stressful situations;
  • Be literate in the English language to the extent of reading and understanding printed regulations, written orders and instructions, training instructions, and be able to compose reports which convey complete information;
  • Be capable of hearing ordinary phone and radio conversation with either ear;
  • Possess strong computer and data entry skills, including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software. Experience with alarm monitoring software is desirable;
  • Must have the ability to interact professionally with co-workers, postal employees, customers, management and the public;
  • Possess ability to prioritize work from different communication sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software) and reprioritize as needed;
  • Ability to work shifts covering a 24 X 7 schedule;
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English to co-workers, postal employees, customers, and management;
  • Advancement will be contingent upon obtaining and maintaining dispatcher certification. There is not a preferred dispatcher certification. Personnel must obtain one of the following dispatcher certifications: a state dispatcher certificate or an Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials (APCO) certification.  Regardless of the type of dispatch certification earned, it must be kept current.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

- Prefer an Associates degree in Law Enforcement from an accredited college or university.

 

Experience:

- 2 years of progressive experience as a Law Enforcement Officer OR -

- 2 years of experience as a Police Officer I with the Dallas County Hospital District Police Department.

 

Equivalent Experience:

- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.

 

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

- Must meet and maintain eligibility standards for licensing as a Texas Peace Officer.

- Must have a valid Texas Class C Driver License. Required Tests for Placement:

- Applicants as of May 23, 2018 must pass with a minimum overall score of 70% or above the Police Officer Selection Test (P.O.S.T.) prior to hire.

 

Skills or Special Abilities:

- Must be able to pass typing test with a minimum of 20 words per minute, with no more than three errors.

- Must successfully pass a physical agility assessment.

- Must pass a pre-employment polygraph and psychological evaluation.

- May be subject to further written and/or oral pre-employment testing.

- Must be able to follow, practice and utilize the Peace Officer Weapons Standard and Qualification General Order to ensure the safety of officers, hospital staff, patients and visitors.

- Must have effective oral and written communication skills.

- Must have the ability to deal with PHHS staff and the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner.

- Must be able to make sound judgments.

- Must be able to testify in court to present case facts.

 

Grandfathered Employee Statement:

- Employees in this job who were hired on or before 03/29/14 are exempt from requirement to take/pass the typing test and physical agility assessment.
