The Company

A regional residential developer with a strong presence in the Essex region.

The Project

Nearing to the close of phase 1 with phase 2 concurrently running at 1st & 2nd fix stage the project is a 250 unit residential development consisting of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses.

The Role

Reporting in to a Senior Site Manager you will be responsible for managing the final quality of the internal finishes prior to sectional handovers your role will include but not be limited to:

  • Manage subcontractors quality and ensure sections are defect free prior final inspection.
  • Coordinate directly employed trades to complete snags and keep a detailed report of work carried out and completed.
  • Order any required materials and plant via the office to ensure works can be completed in a timely fashion.
  • Promote health & safety and safe methods of working.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Senior Site Manager.

About You

  • You will have gained circa 2+ years experience, ideally working for residential developer.
  • Have the correct CITB qualifications for the position.
  • Be able to control multiple subcontractor packages and direct labour.
  • Recent and relevant experience.
  • Strong organisational skills with proven time management skills.

Costain supports Energy Energy Generation to maximise the lifespan of its eight UK nuclear power stations and prepare for defuelling and decommissioning. Costain's role is to provide project controls and commercial managed services to portfolios and programmes of work across all of EDF's eight UK nuclear power stations. As part of this work Costain will develop people capability in core project control skills and provide specialist support to EDFs Central Technical Organisation to improve project performance and deliver cost efficiencies.


The main focus will be to work with Project Managers to develop and manage schedules to incorporate risk, change, resource requirements and cost in accordance with EDF Energy Generation Company requirements and standards. The Senior Planning Engineer will create plans for the full project lifecycle including development and design.

  • Develop, control, monitor, analyse and report on schedule related aspects for designated projects within a Portfolio.
  • Establish and monitor a cost and resource loaded, logic linked, baseline plan for the project in accordance with CTO Programme Office processes.
  • Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to determine time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget.
  • Establish robust Work Breakdown and Project Control Structures in terms of project scope, in accordance with Investment Delivery processes, templates and Procedures.
  • Work with the Project Manager and the Project team to establish the project activities, cost and durations and ensure that these reflect project scope, constraints and commitments. Challenge as necessary to ensure compatibility and compliance.
  • Interface with other departments regarding the project’s activities which may have an impact and ensure these are correctly captured.
  • Facilitate acceptance of and ensure that the project plan embraces the full project work scope, is fit for purpose and is achievable. This to be done in collaboration with the Project Manager and the project’s Key Team Members / Task Managers.
  • Ensure that any necessary planning interface with the site Work Management Process (WMP) is established.
  • Maintain and control project baselines in line with company procedures and guidance.
  • Support the EDF Energy business planning process.
  • Ensure the reasons for, and the factors influencing each change to the project’s baseline plan plus the implications of such change are understood and communicated with the wider project team.
  • Liaise with project team members and contractors with regards to progress and cost forecasting.
  • Monitor, control and analyse the project programme and cost information using Earned Value methodologies, identify variances and bring these to the attention of the Project Manager with possible alternatives, prepare specific reports to facilitate challenge and analysis to meet the project’s specific needs.
  • Challenging schedule and cost variances against the baseline plan with individual task leaders/contractors and or outside stakeholder management as necessary to enable mitigation.
  • Integrate 3rd party schedules and data into the overall project plan.
  • Contribute to progress meetings, as required, in support of the Project Manager.
  • Regular interfacing and integration with the project controls team to maintain an aligned financial position with the Project Plan.
  • Leading, mentoring and coaching a team of Planning Engineers.

Knowledge

  • Breadth of experience across whole project and programme lifecycle. (e.g. Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning processes)
  • Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience of working in a highly reglated environement beneficial.

Skills

About the Job Dimensions

+ Obtain from customers feedback on Qualcomm quality performance (issues / fail rates/ cycle times etc) and input this learning back to Qualcomm quality organization.
+ Work closely with Customer Engineering / Applications teams to understand new product introduction status and feedback issues to Qualcomm quality organization.
+ Present Quality related materials with customer teams and discuss potential quality issues.
+ Work with customers and Qualcomm internal teams to obtain the documentation required to bring up new products (for example PPAPs and customer questionnaires).
+ Perform electrical diagnosis on customer returned parts to determine cause of failure.
Essential Skills & Experience
+ Experience in the Automotive industry in a customer facing role.
+ Understanding of Semiconductor technology including Wafer Fabrication, assembly, and testing.
+ Hands on experience of using semiconductor diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, curve tracer etc.
+ Excellent team working and communication skills including report writing.
+ Understanding of Electrically induced Physical Damage (EIPD)
Desirable
+ Familiarity with Digital & Mixed signal test systems and methods.
+ Knowledge of CMOS Manufacturing, construction, and deconstruction.

+ Understanding of IC Design methodology.
+ Knowledge of IC assembly methods / processes.

The Company

A regional residential developer with a strong presence in the Essex region.

The Project

Nearing to the close of phase 1 with phase 2 concurrently running at 1st & 2nd fix stage the project is a 250 unit residential development consisting of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses.

The Role

Reporting in to a Senior Site Manager you will be responsible for managing the final quality of the internal finishes prior to sectional handovers your role will include but not be limited to:

  • Manage subcontractors quality and ensure sections are defect free prior final inspection.
  • Coordinate directly employed trades to complete snags and keep a detailed report of work carried out and completed.
  • Order any required materials and plant via the office to ensure works can be completed in a timely fashion.
  • Promote health & safety and safe methods of working.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Senior Site Manager.

About You

  • You will have gained circa 2+ years experience, ideally working for residential developer.
  • Have the correct CITB qualifications for the position.
  • Be able to control multiple subcontractor packages and direct labour.
  • Recent and relevant experience.
  • Strong organisational skills with proven time management skills.
