Our client in Henlow is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join them on a contract basis. This role will fall inside IR35 and you must hold current SC clearance.
Role responsibilities
*As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team you will carry out activities in support of multi-project manufacturing activities, focussing on ensuring that products are built safely, efficiently and to budget.
*Provide reactive Manufacturing Engineering support to minimise production downtime
*Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or
*solutions, including process improvements
*Have the ability to interpret design drawings with a view to producing manufacturing build instructions for both skilled and semi-skilled operators
*Compile and update manufacturing instructions

*Support the non-conformance process using SAP, and carry out relevant root cause analysis and define corrective actions as an individual or member of a team
*Contribute to all aspects of continuous improvement activities within the authority designated to Manufacturing Engineering, to aid in the delivery of improved throughput across the Department, Henlow and Stevenage sites
*Keep up to date in relevant technical areas, develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services (seeking and sharing good practice and knowledge to continuously improve practices), and supply technical support and expertise to others as required.
Role requirements (skills, training and qualifications)
*Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, plus a number of years relevant experience (not including initial graduate training or the equivalent if an external recruit) Or HND qualified (or equivalent) plus substantial practical experience in working from a basis of concepts and principles
*Experience across all aspects of at least a single engineering area/ domain and an appreciation of other areas
*Specialist knowledge in at least one area; possibly recognised (or beginning to be recognised) as an expert
*Substantial analytical and problem solving skills

Why You

To be successful in this role you will have a proactive nature and a desire to be a part of a fast paced, multidisciplinary and dynamic environment and a keen interest in improving lab efficiency through implementation of process improvements. You will have experience working within an ISO15189 accredited system or regulated laboratory as well as experience working with service and calibration providers and a working knowledge of setting appropriate equipment specifications, and validation of equipment. You will have some NGS laboratory experience with hands on automated liquid handler library preparation and sequencing including working knowledge of equipment used. You will enjoy working with accuracy and attention to detail and you will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

The Role

The Process and Equipment Engineering Team is involved with a number of activities including process improvement and equipment validation. This new role will sit within this team supporting laboratory operations through complete equipment life cycle management (LCM) including ensuring appropriate calibration and service and performing laboratory validation of key equipment used for NGS workflows, and supporting other process improvements.

Responsibilities include

  • Planning, scheduling and coordination of all equipment IQ, OQ, PQ, calibration, service, maintenance checks and repair

  • Booking services and communication with contractors, checking equipment meets required calibration specifications on receipt

  • Regular hands on validation of key laboratory equipment and specific validation of automated liquid handling and sequencing instrumentation returning to production

  • Maintenance of environmental and cold storage sensors on monitoring systems, and validation of new fridge/freezers

  • Equipment asset management including maintaining all electronic equipment records, calibration specifications, service contracts and other documentation including SOPs, work instructions, process maps, Risk Assessments and FMEAs on the QMS

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with ILS team members and functional peers influencing and collaborating effectively to meet equipment LCM goals including clear communication on lab equipment calibration and service schedule, and instrument availability

  • Contribution to the improvement and optimisation of Equipment LCM process and NGS workflow steps through feasibility studies and tests

  • Sample preparation, reagent preparation and DNA sequencing

  • Troubleshooting issues affecting operations, identifying solutions whilst considering wider impacts to the pipeline and operation

  • Training and supporting laboratory operations to promote and assist implementation of process improvements and configuration changes

  • Coaching individuals to support skill development and career growth

  • In depth data analysis, interpretation and presentation of results, including reports within the QMS

  • Support of lean methodology including visualisation tools aiding efficiency

Experience

  • BSc or equivalent experience in a related field with some experience

  • High level of numeracy with familiarity and proficiency with use of spreadsheets and/or visualisation/analytical software, experience with Statistical Process Control, and critical parameter management a plus

  • Data collection, hands on skills, able to summarise, write reports and present results

  • Have an analytical but practical experimental approach to work

  • Support the shop floor operations with technical support.
  • Work closely with the shop floor staff to ensure optimum machine run time.
Qualifications

ONC or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum of 5 years working within a manufacturing engineering environment.

Experience in the use of Catia V5 and Vericut software is essential.

About the Role

We are looking for an outstanding engineer to help us to shape the future of automation and machine engineering within Abcam manufacturing.

As a Senior Engineer at the company you will solve complex design and engineering problems in a cross-functional team environment. This provides an exciting and unique opportunity to drive progress in all aspects of manufacturing quality, efficiency and scalability.

Reporting to the Director of Global Technical Operations, you will be working in a small multi-disciplinary team on real-world machinery/instrumentation design and integration projects. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide automation-related technical expertise and knowledge of engineering fundamentals to Abcam manufacturing groups.

  • Help the team shape a standardised approach to automation strategy and equipment design that will be used throughout Abcam.

About the Activities
  • Establish and deliver a clear strategy for our Aftermarket growth through the use of agents to drive business from independent garages through to our partner motor factors ensuring the independent garage network provides a springboard in this segment.
  • Develop our brand awareness through targeted growth and through a strategic review establish a portfolio of  Total Quartz Autocentres and Total Rubia Truckcentres.
  • Develop sales, marketing actions, promotions, pricing and training programs to support these activities. 
  • Working with the marketing teams create promotions, loyalty programs and communication campaigns to support the push into the UK aftermarket and raise brand awareness and loyalty.
  • Develop tailored training programs for the agencies in order to communicate the Total brand messages and educate third parties on the reasons to believe.
  • Create the strategic plan leading to the development of Total’s presence in the retail (physical & digital) environment.
  • Manage, motivate, support and coach the personal development of the Agency team.
  • Utilize the Annual Appraisal process to manage by objectives and  provide constructive feedback to aid personnel development.
  • Study the market positioning, the evolution of demand, and the changing environment scenarios in the lubricant market to promote success in the UK aftermarket.
About the Job Dimensions
The Agency Manager has the responsibility to boost the current route to market by engaging with agencies to create demand for our aftermarket activity. These agencies will stimulate sales by representing the Total Brand and the reasons to believe  generating push demand to our motor factor portfolio. These agencies will be engaged using a commission based approach.
In addition the Agency manager will oversee our existing IMT business which in 2020 generated 491 MT and 370 K GBP GMVC and constitutes two FTE.
Strategic Objectives:
  • Establish Total UK as a significant player in in the UK aftermarket.
  • Improve Total’s brand awareness through the establishment of offers in the retail environment.
  • Identify growth opportunities and lead projects through to their commercial implementation.
  • To establish and manage the lubricants aftermarket strategy to respond to the customer/market demands and to innovate to meet  future market trends.
  • Analyse the clients and markets in order to identify business opportunities.
  • Identify, target and convert direct aftermarket accounts. Target national / large regional autocentres, fast fit groups.
  • Increase market direct presence via ROC, TQAC TRTC, Total wash etc

Our client in Henlow is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join them on a contract basis. This role will fall inside IR35 and you must hold current SC clearance.



Role responsibilities
*As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team you will carry out activities in support of multi-project manufacturing activities, focussing on ensuring that products are built safely, efficiently and to budget.
*Provide reactive Manufacturing Engineering support to minimise production downtime
*Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or
*solutions, including process improvements
*Have the ability to interpret design drawings with a view to producing manufacturing build instructions for both skilled and semi-skilled operators
*Compile and update manufacturing instructions
*Carry out investigations into a full range of problems, issues or developments and
develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team
*Support the non-conformance process using SAP, and carry out relevant root cause analysis and define corrective actions as an individual or member of a team
*Contribute to all aspects of continuous improvement activities within the authority designated to Manufacturing Engineering, to aid in the delivery of improved throughput across the Department, Henlow and Stevenage sites
*Keep up to date in relevant technical areas, develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services (seeking and sharing good practice and knowledge to continuously improve practices), and supply technical support and expertise to others as required.



Role requirements (skills, training and qualifications)
*Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, plus a number of years relevant experience (not including initial graduate training or the equivalent if an external recruit) Or HND qualified (or equivalent) plus substantial practical experience in working from a basis of concepts and principles
*Experience across all aspects of at least a single engineering area/ domain and an appreciation of other areas
*Specialist knowledge in at least one area; possibly recognised (or beginning to be recognised) as an expert
*Substantial analytical and problem solving skills
*Communicates verbally and in writing in a style appropriate to the audience; proven presentation skills
*Organisational/co-ordination experience; ability to work with and through others
