East Suffolk Council have 6 exciting Operational Team Leader posts available for you to join us based in Felixstowe. You will join us working full time on an 18-month fixed-term contract with the potential to go permanent in future. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £36,922 - £40,876 per annum plus shift allowance.

Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority is expanding!  It is a really exciting time to be joining our Port health team as we transform our services in response to the UK's departure from the European Union, recruiting an additional 60 team members.

Our mission is the protection of public and animal health, carrying out a range of checks to ensure imported goods are safe for all of us in the UK.

About the role:

As our Operational Team Leader, youwill manage the day-to-day functioning and operations of the Port Health Service, including operational management of shift teams and ensuring operational performance meets or exceeds objectives. You will also ensure that the service meets the organisational requirements for quality management, customer service, health and safety, and legal/regulatory requirements.

Initially, you will participate in a rotational shift pattern covering 06:30 - 22:00 weekdays and 06:30 - 14:30 at weekends which attracts a 14% shift allowance. This will soon be changing to a 24/7 rota (day and night shifts), which will attract a 23.5% shift allowance on top of the base salary.

This will be worked on a 12-hour rotating shift pattern (5 days on, 6 days off, 5 nights on, 6 days off), offering an attractive work-life balance. As this is a new service, the shift pattern will be kept under regular review to ensure it meets operational needs. 

What we are looking for in our ideal Operational Team Leader:

- A strong background in people management

- Extensive experience of working in an operational or service orientated environment

- You will be organised, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to work well under pressure in a busy role

- Experience of managing and motivating a team as well as knowledge of operational and people performance management

We are looking for somebody to work in MSK and Specialist Surgery team based at Ipswich and Colchester Hospitals.

Duration: Immediate start for approximately 3 months

Working hours: Full time

Pay rate / band: Band 8b - £27.19ph plus holiday pay

This is a key leadership role based at Ipswich & Colchester Hospitals.

As part of this innovative clinical and operational structure you will work closely with Clinical Leads and Specialty Matrons to ensure high quality and safe care is delivered to all our patients while adhering to national and internal quality standards.

If you are:

  • An experienced strong operational leader with the ability to influence and engage others.
  • Have strong delivery in both RTT and Cancer performance.
  • are educated to Masters level or demonstrable experience
  • Have a proven track record of delivering performance standards whilst under pressure.
  • Lead service changes to improve performance
  • Are skilled at working with multiple stakeholders to drive system wide change.
  • Able to work with clinical colleagues to develop patient pathways which deliver best practice whilst maintaining financial performance.
  • Are skilled at leading, developing and embedding the business planning process within a service department and across the division.

The Role

The Requirements
