Neonatal Intensive Care Unit – UHL

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated neonatal nurse with the relevant qualifications, to join our dedicated team. We currently provide intensive care for sick babies born from 27 weeks gestation requiring Intensive, High Dependency and Special Care. The unit comprises of 19 Cots on the UHL site and 16 cots at QEW.

As a skilled nurse you will play a key role within the nursing team, providing quality family centered care. You will act as a good role model and provide leadership within the clinical area, displaying effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as facilitating and teaching junior staff and nursing and midwifery students.

As part of the role you will be supported in developing your management responsibilities, taking charge of daily activities on the unit and utilizing skills required for working in a diverse environment.

We are committed to staff development and offer in-house and external courses/ training.

We have strong links with Greenwich and Kings University’s where you will be able to undertake further training and development as required, enabling you to progress your neonatal career.

This is an exciting time to join the Nursing team in the Neuroradiology Department at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square. This is a new service that is being developed with practitioners coming under the managerial guidance of Neuroradiology.

The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery is a specialist centre with patient being referred from local, regional, national and international centres. The Neuroradiology department currently has 2 CT scanners, 4 MRI scanners, an X-ray department and two angiography suites which are in the process of being replaced by two state of the art biplane interventional suites. We provide a wide range of interventional neuroradiological procedures including endovascular embolisation of arterio-venous malformations, subarachnoid haemorrhage treatment and mechanical thrombectomy.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated nurse to join our friendly and dynamic team. The successful candidate would need previous experience in speciality scrub or intervention and would be required to participate in the out of hours service on a rotational basis.

In the department, you will be required to organise the throughput of patients, ensuring safe and effective care of all patients attending the department. You will also act as scrub nurse during procedures, and be responsible for the monitoring of patients during the procedure and in the IR recovery. The post holder will be responsible for monitoring the use of MSSE and non-stock usage, and reporting variances and trends to the budget holder.

The ability to prioritise your working day, ensuring effective communication, time management and organizational skills in a professional manner is essential.

The role will also include involvement in staff and student training to further broaden your experience.

The Intensive Care also specialises in vascular surgery, as well as supporting the sites busy Emergency Department.

Spire London East Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Pre – assessment Nurse to join our highly skilled and patient focused Pre-assessment department.

Spire London East Hospital (formerly Spire Roding) is located in Redbridge, on the borders of East London and Essex. We offer comprehensive private hospital services, ranging from outpatient clinics and physiotherapy to surgery and diagnostic tests in a relaxed, clean and comfortable environment.

The hospital has 24 inpatient beds and 16 day case rooms called ‘pods’. Facilities include 4 operating theatres, an endoscopy suite, 2 extended recovery units, pharmacy, x-ray, outpatient and diagnostic facilities.

Duties and responsibilities

You will take responsibility by making accurate patient observations, completing medical history and giving medication advice and act appropriately. You will be part of a very supportive team delivering a best in class service, ensuring the health and wellbeing needs of our patients are met in the run up to their operation. You will be trusted and supported to make decisions that are deemed the best for our patients care.

Overall Job Purpose

As a Vitality Nurse you will be responsible for obtaining the medical information on a variety of conditions i.e. undertaking screenings and sample testing by means of blood, urine and saliva. Including additional services detailing, medical Telephone Questionnaires, Member Health Checks, Wellness Days and Advanced Health Assessments. Daily travel is required to customers’ homes or places of work covering a specific geographic area.

You will work a 37.5 hour week across 5 days with an alternating Saturday rota (shifts between 8-4, 12-8) and you will be required to travel within your territory. A degree of flexibility is required.

You will work as part of a team of professional Nurses and Office staff

Accountabilities

  • You will be required to conduct client screening appointments at their home or work location
  • You are required to conduct Tele Medical Interview
  • When your schedule has availability you will be allocated a range of Tele medical Interviews and / or HealthCheck through Video Consultations from your home location
  • Liaising with customers, our underwriters and operational team to promote health and wellbeing in a professional but informal manner
  • Manage client expectations in line with company policies and procedures
  • Planning, organising and prioritising your workload/equipment to meet your day to day activities
  • Work in collaboration with concierge based in South Africa to manage your appointments and diary
  • Take accountability of every case, you will conduct physical examinations and collect samples for insurance applicants and healthcare customers
  • Promoting good health

Skills Required

  • You must be a fully qualified nurse registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Full driving licence is essential
  • You should have a broad range of nursing experiences, medical knowledge and be experienced in phlebotomy and competent to work independently

This position offers the opportunity for a highly motivated, dedicated, experienced community nurse with sound knowledge of haemoglobinopathies to join our team of specialist nurses who provide comprehensive services. The post holder will provide assessment, care/ treatment and support for adults (over 18yrs old) affected by sickle cell disease and thalassaemia conditions in order to support early discharge from hospital and reduce emergency admissions.

The post holder will actively follow up patients who DNA and/or are non-compliant with treatment and improve their health outcomes through empowerment and facilitating self-management. The post will include clinical practice, teaching, training, health promotion, research and audit.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills; demonstrable experience of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating health care and evidence of effective multidisciplinary and cross boundary working in delivering high quality services.

Delivery of high quality services is embedded in the team through bench-marked, evidence-based practices measured against nationally agreed standards and best- practice examples within the Haemoglobinopathy environment.
