Nanny Jobs Overview

Nanny jobs involve close working with children, often but not exclusively of pre-school age, and so it's vital that prospective nannies have an affinity for kids, along with patience and a desire to nurture. Typical tasks of a nanny are not only the day to day care of children, including the cooking of meals, bathing and dressing and so on, but also stimulating their development through providing entertainment and activities. A nanny will often be responsible for any nursery and school runs, and may also be expected to provide babysitting. A nanny job is a good fit for someone who is imaginative, has a sense of humour, an ability to stay calm, and is able to cope with constantly changing situations. Because of the intensive nature and long hours of the work, it is best suited to people who have a flexible and positive approach.

Nanny Jobs Education Requirements

There aren't any specific qualifications required for working as a nanny, though any experience or qualifications in childcare or nursery assistant areas would be very helpful. Completion of a child-related first aid course would also be beneficial. As with all work involving children, background checks may need to be completed before taking up a position.

Nanny Jobs Market

There are several types of nannying jobs available. Most are live-in jobs in which board and lodgings are provided in the family home, although there are also non-residential jobs available which will attract a higher wage. Holders of nannying positions are overwhelmingly female.

Nanny Jobs Salary Information
