We have an immediate need for a full time Medical Equipment Delivery/Service Technician who is able to work flexible hours, often including nights and weekends. We offer a competitive hourly rate, full benefits, 401k with match, PTO, and training in career path. MST's deliver and instruct hospice patients or family members on medical equipment and supplies in their place of residence or assisted care facility while providing highly responsible patient care services in addition to the following responsibilities.


  • Safely drive and maintain company vehicle (16-foot box truck or van).
  • Receives a daily route and required supply list and prepares the truck for delivery by pulling stock, loading equipment on the truck, and securing and staging the vehicle.
  • Delivers, unloads, and sets the equipment to full functionality.
  • Reviews basic equipment operation and instructs patients and/or caregivers on the proper use and care.
  • Follows the daily route to pick up and/or exchange equipment. Breaks down, loads and returns equipment.
  • Effectively communicates with customer service to relay order changes and issues, route delays, stock availability and delivery and pick up of equipment.
  • Champions our Mission Statement and Family Standard and filter decisions through them.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three months industry related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. No professional certificate or licensure required, although preferred.
  • Six months industry related work experience or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • One year previous delivery or warehouse experience preferred.
  • A current state issued driver’s license is required
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle records check (MVR) having it show no major violations (including DUI) in the past 5 consecutive years.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must demonstrate practical knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes applicable to the industry.
  • Applicant must have a clean state criminal background and federal sex offender check, clean drug test, valid driver’s license and pass a driving skill test.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as needed (including nights and weekends), and have the ability to demonstrate effective time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Applicant must demonstrate good organization, time management, and communication skills.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate unplanned events and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Must demonstrate proficient ability to foster professional working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills organization-wide.
  • Requires the ability to safely operate a company vehicle; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; strength to lift and carry machinery and/or equipment weighing up to 100 pounds; vision to read printed materials, computer screens and road signs; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone; manual dexterity to perform job functions and stamina to frequently sit for extended periods of time.

The Sterile Core Technician collaborates with the Surgical Teams in order to prepare the surgical case carts with supplies and instruments for invasive procedures for Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth Outpatient Center. Works with the surgical team, adheres to principles of asepsis and environmental controls in the OR setting, collaborates and works bi-directionally with the OR, SPD and Materials Management staff and leadership. Is sensitive to patent privacy and confidentiality. Leads the team in case cart pulling, but Is immediately available to assist at the direction of the OR Registered Nurse to provide patient care duties as assigned, such as lifting and positioning assistance Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with documentation of equipment and supplies consumed and assists as needed with accurate charging and inventory management.
  • Manages supplies judiciously and in a cost-effective manner including tracking and maintaining par levels and accurate recording of used and returned supplies.
  • Accesses locked med rooms for the purpose of restocking and other clerical functions
  • Collaborates with staff to provide appropriate case carts with correct supplies, instruments and equipment in a timely manner for all turnovers.
  • Maintains and documents controls for sterilizers, warmers and refrigeration units.
  • Uses pick sheets and preference cards to pull cases, maintains records, and demonstrates proficiency and accuracy.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment, with ease and flexibility to provide timely responses to the surgical team for supplies, instruments, lifting and other equipment that may need to be retrieved and returned.
  • Assists with pulling outdates, and other supplies management jobs and requirements
  • Uses proper body mechanics for lifting of materials, supplies, instrument trays, and patient care duties, as well ensures the safety of patient’s at the direction of the Registered Nurse while assisting with lifting and positioning.
  • Maintains an aseptic presence, understands the semi-restricted and restricted core and adheres to proper attire, masks, hair covering, etc. while in these spaces
  • Assists with moving major equipment, room turnovers, lifting turning and other jobs as directed.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities
The Surgical Technician Lead is responsible for providing safe and direct surgical scrub on all types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competence within the ASC to identified age groups. In collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary care team, the surgical technologist competently performs job responsibilities in accordance with all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
  • Ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and facility's policies & procedures.
  • Demonstrates respect for co-workers & develops positive working relationships with other departments.
  • Communicates with courtesy when interacting with patients, physicians, hospital staff, vendors and the public - in person, on the telephone, or by email.
  • Coordinates and performs activities routinely as appropriate with the Director of Nursing, Medical Director and the Quality Committee(s).
  • Preforms the role of surgical scrub by anticipating the needs of the surgeon and keeping the circulating nurse informed of any needs throughout a procedure.
  • Ensures all supplies, equipment and medications are assembled prior to the start of the procedure.
  • Responsible for ensuring all new equipment requests are appropriately analyzed based on utilization and data from the provider.
  • Understands the high standards and cost savings and containment of the ASC.
  • Promotes safe environment. Takes appropriate action in emergency situations, being aware of and controlling hazards which may endanger patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Assists the team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times.
  • Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.
  • Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs handwashing according to policy.
  • Strictly adheres to all infection control practices and diligently monitors aseptic technique of the entire surgical team. Takes immediate corrective action for breaks in technique.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Surgical Technician Certification (CST) required
  • Current CPR
  • 1-2 years ASC or hospital Experience REQUIRED
  • Multispecialty surgical experience strongly preferred. Center is heavy in orthopedics, ENT, pain management, and gastroenterology
  • Must be personable, friendly, and exhibit flexibility and positive interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of typical OR equipment required
