Law Graduate Jobs Overview

Law graduate jobs are not necessarily restricted to working in the legal profession as the graduate has many transferrable skills relevant to other sectors. Good communication, research and analytical skills are not just required by solicitors and barristers. A legal qualification can be invaluable as an entry point into many different careers, a logical mind and attention to detail are all qualities which are transferable. Many opportunities exist both in the private and public sector for the graduate to enter a fast track programme and use all the skills they have acquired during their time spent at university.

Law Graduate Jobs Education Requirements

Law graduates intending to become a solicitor or barrister will need further training after completion of an LLB, trainee solicitors will need to complete a Legal Practice Course (LPC) followed by obtaining a training contract before they can be entered on the Roll of Solicitors. To become a barrister, graduates need to undertake the Bar Professional Training Course (BTPC) and then pupillage at an Inns of Court, successful candidates are then called to the bar.

For those seeking a law graduate job there are many avenues open to them to gain entry into the work force. Further training can facilitate entry into the legal profession or alternatively there are many graduate schemes available. Many law graduates later find themselves in banking jobs or civil service jobs. Large corporate and financial organisations offer a variety of training schemes to attract the graduate as well as the public sector offering many different opportunities for career advancement.

  • 5 – 9 years of experience £33,000
  • 10 – 19 years of experience £59,000
