The North Liverpool Primary Care Network would like to recruit a Pharmacy Technician to complement our current Pharmacy Team. This role will be based over the thirteen member practices of the PCN.
The North Liverpool PCN clinical pharmacy team is developing and we are looking for a motivated individual who is flexible to respond to the developing nature of the role and the needs and priorities of individuals requiring support.
Under the direction of the Senior Clinical Pharmacist we expect that you will be able to work independently and manage your own workload. You will need excellent communication skills, able to meet targets and to be able to liaise with patients, primary care staff, community pharmacists and other partners.
The North Liverpool PCN is based in the North of Liverpool covering thirteen practices with an approx. list size of 72,000. We work closely together to strive and provide a proactive, accessible and coordinated care within our local community.
To work under the supervision of the Senior Clinical Pharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients.
To provide technical and administrative support to the Clinical Pharmacists and Clinicians.
To support the primary care team with queries around medication from patients; including face to face and telephone support to patients, primary and community staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a great opportunity to work as part of a committed team of technicians, providing a practical service to the staff and pupils of the school. Responsibilities would include:
- Ensuring all materials and equipment are ready for practical lessons and demonstrations in GCSE and A Level Science classes, across all three disciplines Biology, Chemistry and Physics, liaising with teaching staff for lesson planning
- Cleaning, storing and accounting for all equipment and stock including chemicals
- Undertaking of safety checks and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Ensuring any chemical and biological waste is disposed of correctly
- Maintaining filing systems and correct paperwork for stock orders and keeping the department tidy
- Keeping relevant health and safety knowledge up-to-date eg COSHH requirements
- Assisting teaching staff in the running of practical sessions for pupils, and undertaking other duties as directed
REQUIREMENTS
As the successful candidate you will have:
- A strong knowledge of science and a genuine interest in the subject; a degree qualification in any area of science or experience from a laboratory would be desirable
- Previous experience of working in a school laboratory, or work experience with children in another capacity (paid or voluntary), would be advantageous for referencing purposes
- A patient approach towards working with children and adults alike
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
- A strong work ethic, the ability to work as part of a team of technicians, and a professional attitude

About the Role
This is an opportunity for a suitably qualified/experienced person to use their skills in science to support our teachers to help our pupils succeed and reach their full potential in the sciences. This role will involve managing 8 science laboratories and 1 technician. You will support teaching and learning within our Science Faculty and the role will include the preparation and retrieval of materials and apparatus when required for demonstrations and practical work, as well as working alongside teachers to assist in practical demonstrations and experiments during lessons. In addition, you will also be responsible for the organisation of the Science preparation rooms, including the safe storage and disposal of chemicals, the monitoring and management of stock and supplies and the maintenance and cleaning of equipment along with any ad hoc tasks delegated to you by the Science Faculty. You will also be required to act as a First Aider in school and appropriate training will be provided.
Personal Qualities
The responsibility of the Senior Science Technician to assist with the delivery of practical work in the school’s science programmes and to be responsible for the science laboratories, prep room and storerooms. The aim is to help the science teachers deliver the highest possible standard of teaching through experimental work and practical demonstrations and so improve students’ performance in public examinations. Expertise in Chemistry is a key requirement of this post.
