Hunter Mason are working with a well established Geotechnical company with multiple office across the south of England. Due to increased work load they need to further expand their team with the addition of a Technician.
The role of the technician will be threefold:
1. Primarily travelling around our sites undertaking groundwater and ground gas monitoring using a dip meter and a gas monitor – training will be provided.
2. Providing manual support to our consultants either on-site in the form of setting up sites (fencing, traffic management or the like), trial pitting, soakage tests or with sorting of soil samples.
3. Occasionally it may be required to take samples to our laboratory supplier in Watford.
As the role develops the candidate may be given soakage testing projects of their own to manage and supervise.
Candidates need to understand that travel is an important part of the role, given how our geographic coverage has expanded over the last 6 six years.

• Team working skills, in order to contribute within a team to the execution of a wide range of activities.
• Reliability – much of our work is time sensitive to meet the time windows that our clients have.
• Ability to take instruction and meet deadlines.
• The ability to plan workload effectively.

• Experience of driving commercial vehicles preferred.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician, working within our client’s R&D team, with the world leader in the development and production of inks and intermediates.
Purpose of the Job:
To work, as part of a laboratory-based team, in the development of new energy curable liquid inks and intermediates for the global label and packaging market. Provide technical support for existing UV-curing flexographic inks and intermediates. Carry out a range of daily tasks in the Technical Centre as required.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of a development team working on a variety of technical issues regarding energy curable liquid inks and intermediates.
This will gain practical laboratory and formulation experience combined with opportunities to problem solve a variety of issues. You will have the opportunity to work on specific projects and will be expected to deliver results within agreed timeframes and to agreed standards. The exact nature of the projects will depend on customer and business needs at the time.
Key responsibilities include:
Product Development - Development of new products as well as maintenance of profitable new products to meet business requirements to agreed deadlines and timescales.
Working closely with other technicians, chemists and project leaders on the formulation and research of new and existing products.
Application of own scientific knowledge in problem solving situations.
Provide updates of project progress, including regular communication with project leaders.
Technical Support - Provides technical advice, guidance & support maintaining laboratory processes, equipment and resolution of customer issues.
Product Compliance – Meets required Production, Quality, EHS & Regulatory policies when formulating new products and maintaining existing products.
Safety Commitment - Ensuring the safety of self and others.
Qualifications/Experience Critical for the job Holder
Minimum of five GCSEs, grades 9-5 or equivalent, with experience working in a laboratory environment.
Proficient in use of common productivity software applications.
Practical working knowledge in a relevant formulating laboratory environment, preferably energy curable.
Competent in the use of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
Strong team player.
Able to take ownership and responsibility of their work and think for themselves while being receptive to feedback to continuously improve the quality of the development.
