We are currently looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join the Excelcare team at Primrose Croft Care Home in Cambridge.

What you can expect:

Salary: £9.39 p/h.

18 hours  a week, Monday – Sunday. You must be able to work weekends.

Main Duties:

• Maintain excellent standards of hygiene
• Assist the cook in the preparation and serving of meals for up to 80 people
• Work as a team to agreed schedules for meal preparation
• Respecting choice and preferences of the people we care for.
• Check and maintain kitchen equipment
• Comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety issues, particularly in respect of Basic Food Hygiene, COSHH, safe moving and Handling and working within the guidelines relating to cross infection

What you will need:

Applicants should have experience of preparing and cooking food and be able to demonstrate knowledge of health and safety issues as well as food hygiene in a residential or similar setting.

• Communication of information to senior members of staff relevant to ordering stock and menu planning
• Assist Healthcare Professionals in the area of dietician
• Complying with and developing Risk Assessments
• Maintain quality assurance systems within the kitchen
• Undertake supervision of other kitchen staff
• Have a full understanding of Health & Safety as well as Food Hygiene issues, COSHH, and working within the guidelines relating to cross infection
• Be available at short notice to cover absence and sickness.

What you will need:

• NVQ Level 2 in catering and hospitality
• 2 years’ experience in a catering environment
• 12 months experience in managing a kitchen

Salary:£8.86 - £9.46 per hour

Hours: 33 hours per week

Shifts:Week 1 – Monday, Thursday and Friday, Week 2 – Monday , Friday, Saturday & Sunday - 7am – 17.30pm
