The procurement function at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is very well respected at Board level and throughout the organisation and is widely regarding as a well led and highly performing team always looking for new and innovative ways of improving the service provided. The Logistics function is a key part of this team.
Despite the challenging NHS financial climate, the support of the Board is further evidenced by the approval of a re-structure of the procurement team to support the next phase of our team’s development.
This re-structure has created an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated Senior Procurement Manager. You will work closely with a range of staff across the organisation and beyond, playing a significant role in the continued development of a high quality logistics service.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Deputy Head of Procurement to obtain the maximum possible benefits from the money spent on goods and services.
You will be proficient in negotiation and influencing others, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent with full membership of CIPs or equivalent, relevant experience. You will have a proven track record of delivering a wide variety of procurement projects within tight timescales along with proven problem solving techniques.
Excellent analytical and numerical skills are essential as well as a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is working in collaboration with Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals (WHH FT), Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust (Mersey Care) and North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NW Boroughs) to shape the development of procurement and to be at the forefront of change.
As Procurement Manager for Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation you will have day-to-day operational responsibility for the delivery of an expenditure control programme aimed at providing genuine cost improvements across all levels of Trust influencable non-pay expenditure.
The Procurement Manager will also support the Senior Head of Procurement / Head of Procurement in championing strategic collaboration working with procurement leads and external groups including but not limited to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), NHS Supply Chain (NHS SC) and NHSI/E to challenge, influence and shape collaborative procurement agendas both within the Trust(s) and across organisational boundaries to engage collaborative initiatives across the Trust(s).
The candidate must have a minimum two years’ experience working within a procurement environment with an understanding of European Legislation associated with competitive tendering and contract awards. Excellent organisation & leadership skills are required with the ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines.
The post holder will be employed by (WHH FT) and will be based within the offices at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospital. Although the post holder is based at WHH FT they must remain flexible to work across different Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust sites as and when required.
