Our client in London is currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Content and Instructional Design Specialist.
This is a 12 month position with possibility of extension.
Role Objective: Drive and deliver a consistent standard of high quality Learning & Enablement content across all channels.
The Partnerships team works at the essential intersection between products and partners. Our client is looking for a creative Content and Instructional Design Specialist to join the Partnerships Learning & Enablement team. In this position you will partner with Learning & Enablement Leads to design and launch training deliverables and content including training decks, playbooks, cheatsheets, eLearnings and internal Wiki pages. You will govern and ensure that all content is clear, engaging and fit for purpose. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining content templates/frameworks through various channels that can be leveraged for repeatable use cases driving a consistent standard across the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Scope, design and develop instructor-led and digital content that is both engaging and informative
- Design and develop creative assets (playbooks, wireframes, graphics, motion graphics, videos, etc.)
- Utilize multimedia software (such as Adobe Creative Suite) and eLearning authoring tools (such as Evolve Authoring)
- Manage timelines and deliverables for projects ensuring on-time delivery of program assets
- Communicate timely updates and raise any issues that might delay project timelines
- Develop the team design principles, branding, templates and processes
- Performs and interprets needs analysis and translates the findings into actionable content and instructional design items
- Work with subject matter experts and Program Managers to prepare and enhance enablement materials
- Stay current with industry trends on content and instructional Design
- Organize and prioritize work, managing multiple tasks and functions effectively
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience in instructional design or educational content development
- Deep proficiency with multimedia and graphic design tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch)
- Proficient in video post-production workflow (create motion graphics, edit video, color correction, audio sweetening)
- Proficient in web design and development
- Extensive experience using standard publishing tools (Office and Adobe products)
- Ability to demonstrate effective project management
- Ability to translate complex topics into visual media
- Understanding of digital marketing and advertising teams and internal workings of agencies
SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Proven skills as a team player, who also works well independently
- Strong project management skills combined with creative energy to bring fresh ideas into enablement programs
- Outstanding communication skills (proven both written communication and presentation skills)
- Comfort with a fast-paced, always-on, start-up environment

Edinburgh College is recruiting a Curriculum Portfolio Manager – Data-Driven Innovation (DDI) Skills Gateway. The role will work with colleagues across the Colleges in the city region (Borders, Fife, Edinburgh, West Lothian). The role will report to the College City Region Deal Skills Group with day to day line management from the Head of Curriculum Planning and Performance.

This is a unique opportunity to manage the delivery of an innovative project, which aims to contribute to a strategic approach to increasing the data skills of the population of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland city region, helping the Colleges strengthen their regional economic role and oversee a multi-agency delivery project.

The role of the Curriculum Manager – Data-Driven Innovation Skills Gateway will be to establish processes and develop and deliver this ambitious and ground-breaking skills project, nurturing the Data Workers and Citizens of the future. You will be working with colleagues across the Colleges in the city region (Borders, Fife Edinburgh, West Lothian) to monitor output and ensure that financial resources are appropriately deployed.

The Prime Minister and First Minister announced the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland City Region Deal on 7th August 2018. Few other City Region Deals in the UK have involved such a prominent role for a College. Innovation and Skills are key components of the deal. The Data-Driven Innovation Skills Gateway reflects an inclusive growth ambition, seeking to make the region the leader for developing data literacy skills across its population. Working in partnership with the city region Local Authorities, Colleges, other HE institutions, The Data Lab and third sector organisations.

The inclusion of Data-Driven Innovation with the City Region Deal reflects the growing importance of data in economic growth, social change, and public services. Through high-speed data analytics, our ability to capture flows of data and understand what they tell us is bringing better and faster capability to identify trends and behaviour across many sectors leading to improved services for consumers and citizens.

About the role

As a Core Curriculum Manager, you will directly contribute to DataCamp's mission of democratizing data science education by building the best platform to learn and teach data skills. A typical day will involve working closely with instructors on designing courses for key vertical customers and learners, gathering critical input from stakeholders, and creating your own content. You will drive our content strategy forward by partnering closely with cross-functional teams to define and deliver on the next phase of our core data science curriculum. You will develop content solutions and build significant relationships with key data science experts in the field to execute on the huge market potential.

With strong technical competency in Python or R and SQL, and the ability to lead and influence across functional groups, you will make data-driven decisions and lead complex projects to successful completion. You will also be involved in all phases of the course development process, including requirements gathering, planning, design, launch, maintenance, and feedback. 

In order to be effective in this role, you must have a sincere interest in education technology and data science as well as experience in project and/or product management. 

In this role, you will focus your time on the following three areas:

  1. Project Management
    • Assess subject matter experts who apply to become DataCamp instructors.
    • Work closely with instructors to create detailed specifications for new courses.
    • Effectively set and hold instructors accountable for course deliverable deadlines.
  2. Curriculum Design & Content Creation
    • Build courses on core curriculum areas such as R, Python, SQL, and more.
    • Own the data science curriculum roadmap for your portion of the curriculum (i.e. R, Python, SQL, and Spreadsheets).
    • Use data, market research, and various inputs to inform curriculum decisions
  3. Content Liaison
    • Collect and implement feedback on course design from internal and external sources.
    • Design experiments with Product team to drive discoverability of existing content.
    • Liaise with commercial teams on content recommendations, advice, etc.

The ideal candidate

This position is ideal for someone with a passion for data science and education, who is entrepreneurial and wants to join a fast-growing startup that's training the next generation of data scientists!

  • 2+ years in a technical project management or product management role
  • Strong technical understanding of Python or R, and SQL
  • Ability to pick up new programming languages fast
  • Able to effectively synthesize, visualize, and communicate your ideas to others
  • Capable of explaining these ideas to an eight-year-old
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal
  • Experience presenting at conferences or writing blog posts is a plus
  • Know when to push back, challenge an idea, and seek out compromise, and do so positively and for the benefit of the company

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
You will be very involved with the testing community companywide, this is a community of over 40 testers. We are looking for a forward thinker who can oversee our Testers and help them to improve and grow as individuals, you will advise them on all aspects of testing and ensure that we have continuity throughout our company. This is perfect for someone who loves people interaction and problem solving, whilst still having a hand in and being inn the front lien of the technical approach we take. Its key you have relevant up to date experience with Automation Testing, Continuous Integration, and testing best practises such as BDD, TDD and Shift Left Testing. We are still a smaller company and you may need to at times roll up your sleeves and carry out some testing!
You will be expected to provide rapid feedback to ensure overall productivity. It is vital you have excellent and engaging communication skills, as you will be continually mentoring and coaching your team to ensure necessary standards are met. As well as this you will help use from a Pre-Sales perspective, and will have frequent interaction with our clients. Ideally you will also help to showcase our company at local and national software testing events and conferences.

WE NEED YOU TO HAVE…
  • At least 6 years' experience across Testing, spanning Manual, Automation, API etc
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience
  • An absolute passion for all things test with the ability to contribute your own ideas to a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of client interaction, ideally in a consultancy environment

In this varied and fast-paced role, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role within the Maths team, with curriculum, module coordination, and teaching (up to 16 hours teaching per week) responsibilities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will provide academic team leadership, contribute to the delivery of excellent student outcomes; quality assurance and enhancement that is commended by the QAA; and curriculum innovation which embeds strong collaborative working with both the University and the network.
  • You will be responsible for leading and supporting the Mathematics subject area.
  • Reporting to the Head of Mathematics, you will work closely with senior colleagues within and outside of the College and be accountable for the delivery of contractually required progression rates to the University.
  • In addition to the effective line management of teaching staff, you will also have accountability for student outcomes across a defined group of modules.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least a Master’s Degree in Maths, Computer Science, Physical Sciences or Engineering subject.
  • A teaching qualification (or is currently working towards one) is desirable
  • A good understanding of the UK pathway education context both from a business and academic perspective.
  • Experience, and a positive track record, of academic management and quality assurance in the UK further and/or higher education.
  • Experience teaching Mathematics at Level 3
  • Experience teaching Mathematics or Statistics or Java Programming at Level 4 or above
  • Experience in teaching Science or Engineering is desirable.
  • Experience of writing summative assessments (examination or coursework) for Level 3 or above
  • Experience of working within a Virtual Learning Environment.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Proven ability to engage in discussions and negotiations, diplomatically and sensitively with a wide range of stakeholders at various levels of seniority
  • Ability to plan, model, coordinate, manage and maximize pathway resources effectively
  • Strong record-keeping skills with competence in administrative IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail)
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB and LaTeX is desirable.

Our client in London is currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Content and Instructional Design Specialist.

This is a 12 month position with possibility of extension.

Role Objective: Drive and deliver a consistent standard of high quality Learning & Enablement content across all channels.

The Partnerships team works at the essential intersection between products and partners. They build relationships to help the company deliver the products people need to stay connected, and help partners succeed using the company's tools and services. They do this every day, around the world, across over 30+ business lines - including news publishers, game developers, media companies, financial institutions, public figures and more. As the future of work comes into focus, Partnerships plays an ever more essential and exciting role.

Our client is looking for a creative Content and Instructional Design Specialist to join the Partnerships Learning & Enablement team. In this position you will partner with Learning & Enablement Leads to design and launch training deliverables and content including training decks, playbooks, cheatsheets, eLearnings and internal Wiki pages. You will govern and ensure that all content is clear, engaging and fit for purpose. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining content templates/frameworks through various channels that can be leveraged for repeatable use cases driving a consistent standard across the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Scope, design and develop instructor-led and digital content that is both engaging and informative
- Design and develop creative assets (playbooks, wireframes, graphics, motion graphics, videos, etc.)
- Utilize multimedia software (such as Adobe Creative Suite) and eLearning authoring tools (such as Evolve Authoring)
- Manage timelines and deliverables for projects ensuring on-time delivery of program assets
- Communicate timely updates and raise any issues that might delay project timelines
- Develop the team design principles, branding, templates and processes
- Performs and interprets needs analysis and translates the findings into actionable content and instructional design items
- Work with subject matter experts and Program Managers to prepare and enhance enablement materials
- Stay current with industry trends on content and instructional Design
- Organize and prioritize work, managing multiple tasks and functions effectively

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience in instructional design or educational content development
- Deep proficiency with multimedia and graphic design tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch)
- Proficient in video post-production workflow (create motion graphics, edit video, color correction, audio sweetening)
- Proficient in web design and development
- Extensive experience using standard publishing tools (Office and Adobe products)
- Ability to demonstrate effective project management
- Ability to translate complex topics into visual media
- Understanding of digital marketing and advertising teams and internal workings of agencies

SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Proven skills as a team player, who also works well independently
- Strong project management skills combined with creative energy to bring fresh ideas into enablement programs
