Key Responsibilities;

  • Help check and prepare the operating department environment and equipment prior to use, between clients and at the end of a list.

  • Assist with the care, support and observations of the client during the pre/post-operative period, and report findings to the Registered Practitioners.

  • Undertake counts of swabs, instruments and needles in conjunction with another trained member of the surgical team, and assist the surgical team during surgical procedures.

  • Prepare clients for treatment and complete the pre-operative care plan in the client’s notes and escort clients as necessary ensuring effective communication of client information to other team members involved in the care of the client.

About You

You will be someone who is willing to work as part of a team, and able to work under pressure whilst remaining calm at all times. You’ll have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and will be able to handle difficult conversations well. Experience of working in Healthcare would be an advantage.

We are also looking for:

  • Healthcare Qualification, either in Health / and or Social Care

  • Willingness to undertake local training to enable working within all areas of the unit

  • Good IT skills with knowledge of working on MS Packages and Bespoke Systems

Further Information

Working Pattern: 16 Hours per week | Thursday and Friday 08:30am to 17:00pm

Salary: £17,175 to £19,381 pro rata, per annum (depending on skills and experience)

Essential skills and experience:

  • Be qualified at NVQ Level 3 in Care or equivalent

  • Has a full driving licence and use of a car to travel between patient homes and Compton Care Sites.
  • Be able to demonstrates the ability to work unsupervised in the patient’s home

The Neighbourhood Teams consist of Community Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Healthcare Assistants and administration staff with GP and social care colleagues working closely alongside. The teams deliver planned nursing, therapy and admission avoidance / supported hospital discharge interventions to the adult patient population. The teams remit is to deliver a high quality service to people in their own homes, putting them at the centre of care and utilising the skills of all the multidisciplinary team where appropriate. We aim to deliver an effective, high quality service that puts patients at the centre of their own care.

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible team player with a strong, quality driven patient focus and an ability to work through change to embed new ways of delivering care.

You should have excellent clinical, written and verbal communication skills. We provide a supportive induction programme to community work and the mentorship to help you to develop the skills and competencies expected of the role. We would consider the potential of employing the right candidate in a Band 2 development role to enable them to gain the required skills.
