Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapy rotation post.

To support the expansion of our Critical care bed base, we are looking for a skilled and experienced Physiotherapist to join our friendly, busy Respiratory + Critical Care Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust. This respiratory post covers the respiratory ward + outliers, acute NIV, Critical Care, Respiratory Outpatients, as well as providing respiratory education to the wider acute team, alongside 2 other rotational band 6 respiratory specialist physiotherapists.

The NIV role;- This role includes acute retrieval/initiation of NIV from ED/wards. Following the patient’s from the ED to the designated respiratory specialist ward. The ability to deliver specialist advice regarding machine settings, interface and weaning will be required and training will be provided to expand existing knowledge. This role includes being able to lead on the specialist education of NIV to the wider MDT and once trained, the ability to take blood gases. There is responsibility for attending ward rounds with the respiratory consultant as well as participating in the treatment and management of respiratory patients on the specialist respiratory ward.

The Critical care role:- This role is based in our 19 bedded critical care unit at RCH. The caseload is a mixed of level 3 and level 2 patients, from acutely ill fully ventilated patients’ to those requiring early rehabilitation. The role also includes critical care rehab and following complex patients with their rehab on the wards as part of the critical care MDT.

The education role:- Whilst working across the respiratory physiotherapy service in a clinical capacity, this role includes developing the specialist respiratory skills within the team and to ensure the wider acute on-call team are up to date with their respiratory skills. This role has access to the Critical Care educators, the Learning and development team and the Simulation suite.

This post is fully supported by the clinical lead in Respiratory / Critical care and ongoing training will be provided.

We are looking for a team member who can provide decisive and effective Physiotherapy input. We are looking for a physio who is motivated to develop the respiratory service, whilst delivering effective, evidence based treatment.

Job Description

Main Duties:

  • Transfers patients within all areas of the Trust using the correct equipment i.e. wheelchairs, trolleys and bed.
  • Transfers medical gas cylinders across the Trust as required including the changing of cylinders at ward level and various medical gas manifolds. Additionally, responsible for the receipt and correct storage of cylinders whilst ensuring the security, cleanliness and tidiness of all medical gases storage areas.
  • Transfers deceased patients to the Mortuary and conducts the necessary mortuary procedures and protocols including assisting senior nursing staff in facilitating the viewing of deceased patients out of hours.
  • Organises linen ready for delivering or returning to the laundry. Packing and covering linen for storage or delivery. Is responsible for managing and keeping records of stock levels
  • Delivery and collection of specimens and pharmacy stock as required to include the delivery of bulk I.V. Fluids to the ward.
  • Delivers and collects meal trolleys and other specialised catering equipment/meals/snack boxes.
  • Delivering clean linen to wards. Collecting used linen from wards and other patient areas
  • Collection and correct disposal of clinical, domestic and recycling waste in line with Trust policies and procedures whilst ensuring the security, cleanliness and tidiness of all external waste handling / storage areas, some of which may be hazardous.
  • Collection / delivery of x-rays and or medical notes to/from any location within the hospital.
  • Collection / delivery of equipment and furniture to / from any location within the hospital. Undertakes any ad-hoc duties as directed by the supervision and management team.
  • Carries out a visual risk assessment of trolleys and wheel chairs prior to use and sanitises using designated equipment as required.
  • Reports any safety deficiencies, incidents, near misses, ill health and environmental incidents to their manager.

Project Assistant / Co-ordinator /Junior Project Developer/Analyst, UK home based with regular travel, negotiable salary likely £35,000 - £50,000 
This is an exciting new role with an international energy firm building its solar and battery storage project and project construction capability in the UK.
We’re looking for a high-calibre, enthusiastic, ambitious professional to assist the development team drive forward a large UK pipeline of renewable energy projects.
Ideally you have specific experience as a renewable energy project developer but experience of site acquisition, project management, account management, sales or business development in a project development / power generation environment could be good too.
Either way, you’ll be highly driven and tenacious and familiar with (and interested in) the project development life cycle.
Solar energy and battery storage experience will be great, but other power generation technology backgrounds are suitable too – Wind, CHP, BioGas, Gas Peakers etc.
You’ll work closely with an internal development team who’s focus is originating and developing large scale Solar PV and/or Battery projects through to a successful project outcome and into construction.

This role is for qualified Emergency Care Assistants who hold Qualsafe FREC4 (FREC3 and working towards 4) or equivalent clinical qualification as well as a recognised emergency response driving qualification to join our friendly team on a contracted hours (full time or part time) or bank/ ad hoc basis.

This role prominently will be to work variety of frontline shifts supporting a local NHS Foundation Trust, but may include high dependency transfers, patient transport and event cover as required. Role 1 Medical Emergency Care Assistants require:

> First Response Emergency Care Level 3 or

Main function of job:

To provide safe effective ambulance patient care as part of the Role 1 Medical Ltd operational team providing high dependency hospital transfers, Frontline A&E support and event cover as part of an ambulance crew.

Duties and responsibilities:

1. To deliver per-hospital emergency care within a scope of practice defined by your level of training in a safe and effective way making referrals to senior healthcare professionals as required.

2. Provide Basic Life Support autonomously including defibrillation, advanced airway management and oxygen or delivering Advanced Life Support as part of a team.

3. To complete accurate and thorough patient records in accordance with established Role 1 Medical Ltd SOPs.

4. To safely administer & record medical gases in accordance with Role 1 Medical Ltd policy and SOPs as required for the immediate treatment of the sick and injured.
