Do you want to work as part of a dynamic and innovative mental health liaison service supporting the acute hospitals in Aintree University Hospital?

We are looking for experienced support worker who have a wide range of experience including older person’s mental health, CAMHS, substance misuse and adult mental health who can offer forward thinking and a dynamic attitude to ensure high quality service user care within a well established team.

The mental health liaison team provides support to service users presenting within the acute hospital trusts including A&E and inpatient wards covering the full hospital sites. The team complete assessments of mental health needs and provide treatment plans and signposting to relevant agencies. We also provide support, guidance and teaching opportunities to staff within the acute trust and work closely with all partner agencies.

The service covers 24 hours a day over 7 days a week and successful applicants will be expected to work over a 24 hour shift pattern including weekends, nights and bank holidays. An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and driven Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners to work within the First Response Service for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The First Response Service is a brand new service which will provide 24/7, 365 days a year access to all aspects of mental health care, advice, support and treatment. This role will involve 3 specific areas of work including our first response telephone line, our section 136 assessment suite and our specialised assessment clinic.

Our assessment clinic provides the completion of holistic mental health assessments for service users who are experiencing all aspects of mental health difficulties. This encompasses liaising with GP’s, service users, family/carers and the MDT in order to collaboratively complete individualised treatment plans for our service users.

The assessment suite provides a place of safety for people detained by the police under section 136 of the Mental Health Act. Successful applicants will be responsible for supporting these people during their time on the suite, being involved in the assessment process and ensuring they are discharged from the suite safely with an appropriate plan of care in place. This involves multi agency working with AED staff, Paramedics, the police, ward staff and the wider MDT.

Team members have access to regular clinical and management supervision, monthly team meetings, monthly reflective practice sessions and bi-annual away days. Team members are also provided with high level technology such as mobile phones and laptops.

Due to the nature of the service and the broad range of skills and knowledge required, on-going specialist training will be provided to all team members to ensure use of evidence based practice within mental health, this includes Non medical prescribing, and Applied psychological interventions.

Successful applicants will be front line for accessing mental health services via Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and therefore must portray a dynamic, compassionate and caring attitude working within the values of the trust. The base of work will be Clock View Hospital, however will also involve visiting our service users in their home or in the community. We encourage passionate and enthusiastic practitioners to apply to be involved in these exciting changes.
