Electrician Jobs Overview

Electricians are typically employed on a variety of tasks from installation and commissioning work in new buildings, to maintaining production lines or rewiring and maintenance in older properties. Multiple skills are an advantage; some employers provide in-house or on-the-job training, especially if they use bespoke systems. Factory work can involve working on hybrid machinery that combines electrical hardware with mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic elements. In addition to investigating, diagnosing and identifying faults, electricians carry out repairs and preventative or routine maintenance, deciding between in-house rectification and contractor call out if necessary. Work involves dismantling, occasional modifications or improvements and reassembly of systems, while also aiming to minimise down time.
