Qualifications and attributes required

Experience in a modelling role within a consulting agency or academic institution
Knowledge and practical application of all relevant methods of economic evaluation
Experience of developing models to support economic strategies
High level of competency in Excel and modelling skills are essential
Competency in conducting statistical analyses in R, Stata or other relevant software/platforms would be an advantage
First class communication skills with the ability to engage with clients in issues relating to projects in area of responsibility

Role Overview
OCE consists of a team of approximately 15 economists, analysts and assistants. It contributes to the operational, policy and strategy work of the Bank by providing intellectual leadership on economic and financial aspects of transition in the region. OCE is responsible for research on critical economic issues relevant to the transition region and EBRD operations, macroeconomic analysis in support of country work, and relations with academia. It also leads the design and implementation of large-scale surveys (such as the Enterprise Surveys, Banking Environment and Performance Surveys and Life in Transition surveys); randomised impact studies; and the production of most major external publications produced by the OCE, including the annual Transition Report.
The Analyst, Surveys, contributes to the preparation, running and analysis of the core surveys conducted by OCE regularly – household surveys, the enterprise surveys, the banking surveys and various smaller surveys on specific topics – either independently or under the supervision of a senior economist. They are responsible for the independent management of large-scale datasets based on the results of several rounds of surveys and linking the results of the data analysis with various products of the Bank. The Analyst will also provide research assistance for non-survey related projects.
This role will initially be offered as a 2 year Fixed Term Contract, with the potential to extend.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
• Organise and manage on a day-to-day basis large-scale household, enterprise and banking surveys in OCE, including survey instruments, supervision of data delivery, data cleaning and maintenance of datasets
• Assist with the analysis of the data obtained from the surveys
• Based on the survey data, contribute to the generation of key OCE products, including Regional Economic Prospects, sections in the Transition Report or working papers
• Assist with developing new or updated survey instruments (questionnaires)

• Performing ad hoc assignments, including presentations and briefing notes on specific topics based on the results of the surveys
