Ensure all Personal Development Plans & personnel paperwork are completed as required. Ensure the rota is covered for upcoming shifts and relief staff are utilized as & when required, to ensure staff are allocated and take their annual holiday entitlements, and as a deputy participate in the ‘sleep-in’ rota as & when required and share the on-call rota with the Home Manager, which will include weekend cover.
The Home
Take responsibility and accountability for the establishment, its resources and services. To support the Home Manager in managing all financial matters associated with the running of the home and help obtain the maximum benefit from available funds. Take responsibility & manage the presentation and appearance of the establishment & maintenance of equipment & facilities in line with the requirements of the Company by undertaking & recording the required scheduled building & security checks.
Communication
To work with the Home Manager to ensure all Company’s policies, procedures and legal obligations are followed and met, ensuring that all staff are working to company policies and procedures, company initiatives are promoted and to take appropriate action to ensure that standards are reached and maintained. Ensure Home Manager is kept up to date on any ongoing issues and deputise for the Home Manager in their absence as & when required.

About the Lead Deputy Manager role

About the Deputy Manager role
You will work closely and supportively with the Registered Manager (Therapeutic Parenting) and Lead Deputy Manager (Therapeutic Parenting) to ensure high standards of care are consistently maintained. You will play a key role in ensuring that the home operates in accordance with all appropriate regulatory frameworks, and will supervise the Senior Therapeutic Parents and Therapeutic Parents, including chairing peer supervision meetings, to ensure support in role and exchange of good practice across the team.
You will be able to communicate well and represent Halliwell in liaison with all appropriate external agencies, maintaining a high level of professionalism at all times. You will ensure the home is maintained to a consistent standard in line with the Restorative Parenting specification and statutory requirements and will help to promote and embed a culture of safeguarding of children across all areas of practice and in conjunction with Halliwell Education.
The postholder will promote and maintain a healthy and safe environment for all children and staff, ensuring that adequate staff cover is maintained in the homes at all times and consulting with the Registered Manager and Lead Deputy Manager to ensure that adequate staffing is in place to safeguard the children, meeting the needs of the home and the organisation. You will manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager and Lead Deputy Manager and to ensure all incidents are reported to the Head of Safeguarding or Head of Therapeutic Parenting (Therapeutic Care).
You will be working supportively with the Registered Manager and Lead Deputy Manager, playing a key role in ensuring that all members of the practice teams fully participate in training and that robust supervision systems are maintained. The post holder will be committed to continual professional development including maintaining up-to-date training in Restorative Parenting.
Skills and experience required by our Deputy Manager:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Care (England) qualification or equivalent
- English and Maths GCSE Grade G or above
- Achieved or a willingness to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) qualification within first two years of employment
- At least two years’ experience working in Residential Childcare achieving positive outcomes for children
- Extensive experience working as a deputy childcare worker leading shifts and managing rotas
- Experience in working towards objectives and retaining documents and paperwork to remain statutory compliance
- People Management experience leading successful teams through effective staff supervision
- Experience of maintaining strict financial controls for auditing purposes
