Delivery Driver Job Overview

Delivery drivers use a vehicle to make deliveries from warehouses, pick-up points, depots, businesses, institutions, banks, hospitals or other locations. There is a constant need for professional drivers to ensure that deliveries are made safely and in a timely fashion. It is the delivery driver's responsibility to: collect the goods from various locations, load the goods onto the vehicle, plan the route to ensure the delivery will be made on time, unload the goods when reaching the destination, obtain signatures for the transported goods, and hand over invoices, customs declarations and other documentation, keeping track of mileage and fuel levels in the process. Drivers will have various other responsibilities depending on the employer, the destination and the type of cargo. People interested in driving a car for work in general may be interested in car driving jobs. Often, with increased experience in the industry, many drivers turn to administrative roles, such as warehouse supervisor jobs.
