Trust Housing Association has a fantastic opportunity for a Cook to join our team due to open in Spring 2021. Our new development of flats and cottages designed for later living will provide exciting opportunities for those who live in and around Duns.

 

Two posts available working 28 hours per week over a two week rolling rota and alternate weekends.

 

The shifts are 8 hours with a 1 hours unpaid break working 3 days one week and 4 days the next.

What we’re looking for in our Cook

 

Our Greenock development has a number of tenants with differing dietary needs, and day-to-day you would be required to prepare nutritious, home cooked light meal at lunch time and main meal in the evening. Our menu planner means our tenants can choose their menu in advance, making preparation and organisation more manageable. The tenants enjoy home cooking and home baking and especially enjoy the social aspect of the dining experience.

 

Skills and experience required to become our Cook

You must have previous experience in cooking and serving quality food along with a relevant food related qualification e.g. REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.

About the Home

Ravensdale is a twenty bedded specialist psychiatric home working with adult service users who present with complex mental health needs. The home also offers specialist care for individuals with Huntington's disease and other neurological conditions. We have a focus on enablement and recovery and have expanded to support three people on an intensive recovery journey.  The home is split in to 2 x 10 bedded units and one 3 bedded community house.

As a cook, we would expect that you will be:

  • Preparing, cooking and serving food
  • Ensuring that food is presented well and looks appetising
  • Ensuring that food is stored according to food hygiene legislation
  • Minimising waste levels and disposing of food in an appropriate manner
  • Carrying out food and fridge temperature checks, and recording as necessary

  • Obtaining feedback on food, reporting any compliments, comments or complaints

St Helena Hospice are looking for a cook on a permanent. The role is for 15 hours a week.

The main priorities of the role are:

  • To prepare, cook and serve quality meals and refreshments for patients, visitors and staff for the Colchester and Clacton sites and to maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment.
  • To assist in the provision of catering services for catering workshops to assist patients and their families cope with their end of life care journey and bereavement, and to further promote the services of the St Helena, and to provide catering services to external clients

The successful applicant will have proven experience in preparing and cooking meals from fresh ingredients in a busy environment.
