Chauffeur Jobs Overview
Chauffeur jobs are ideal for those who enjoy driving, are able to take pride in both their own appearance and that of the vehicle, and are able to show exceptional standards of timekeeping and professionalism. As well as driving customers or employers from place to place, chauffeurs are also often expected to load and unload baggage, provide the passenger with information on the journey, and also perform light maintenance on the vehicle to keep it clean and in working order. Working hours as a chauffeur are often unpredictable and may involve unsociable hours, overnight stays, and split shifts, and so it's essential that a chauffeur has a flexible schedule and can work whenever required.
Chauffeur Jobs Education Requirements
A full, clean UK driving licence is the only prerequisite for a chauffeur position, although many employers will also require completion of extra driver training such as an Advanced Driving Test, along with several years of driving experience. Employment history in a driving job will also be helpful, for example work as a taxi driver, or in the police force or the military.
Chauffeur Jobs Market
There are a variety of types of chauffeur jobs available. Successful applicants may find themselves working for a private individual or family, driving in day to day life, or for a company driving employees to meetings or picking up visitors from airports and so on. There is also the possibility of working for a limousine hire company, where you may be driving for weddings, funerals, or other formal events. Most chauffeurs are male (94% according to the Office for National Statistics), and although there is some part time and self employed work, the majority is full time with varied and often unsocial hours.
Chauffeur Jobs Salary Information
