Apprentice Fire Security Installation Engineer

What you will do


An apprenticeship with us will see you building new skills, while applying your knowledge to real-world live projects. This is a genuine alternative to university for people who have a passion for engineering and who want to launch their career with us.


The successful apprentice will enrol on to the Level 3 Advanced Fire, Emergency amp; Security Systems Advanced Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship is 3 years in duration during which you will be trained in Intruder Alarms, Fire Alarms, CCTV and Access Control. You will attend college on a block release basis, which (depending on your home address) may require you to stay away from home. The cost of travel, accommodation and meals will be covered by the company.


The candidate will be expected to cover Devon and Cornwall.

R&R Electrical are looking for a Fire & Security Engineer to join their team.


Location: Midlands - Birmingham (working Nationwide)


Hours: 48 Hours a Week


Salary: Days - £15.00 per hour


Night - base rate x 1.3


Saturday - base rate x 1.5


Sunday - base rate x 2.0


Working for a Fire and Security Company. We are both NSI and FIA approved. We operate within the Industrial and Commercial sectors in and throughout the United Kingdom. Role will involve travel and working away from home. You may also be placed on the On-Call rota.


Fire & Security Engineer - Key Responsibilities:


- Work is Nationwide so you will be expected to travel. Some work may be based in Europe


- You are required to adopt a flexible approach to hours as work can be days, nights or weekends. You may also be required to stay way form home overnight


- Install and Commissioning of Fire and Security Systems - Predominately working in the commercial/retail sector


- Attending Reactive Callouts for System Faults and Planned Maintenance on Fire/Security systems


- Installation of cat 5e, cat 6 and cat 6e cabling, containment, patching and termination of cables


- Installing both Analogue and IP Security Systems


- Cabling enabling and containment system install i.e. trunkings and trays etc.


- Carrying out site surveys, job reports and health & safety risk assessments


- Completing timesheets and expenses in line with work deadlines


Fire & Security Engineer - Essential Skills:


- Extensive experience in both Fire and Security Install & Commissioning


- Ability to engage professionally & confidently with clients on both a technical and operational level


- Excellent planning and organisation skills/Ability to multi-task


- Ability to work within a close small team and communicate effectively with colleagues and the office


- Ability to problem solve and provide proactive solutions to our clients


- Ability to identify any new opportunities we could explore


- Good work ethic with an energetic approach


- Flexibility and commitment


Fire & Security Engineer - Required:


- Knowledge of the BS5839 Fire Alarm Regulations


- FIA Qualifications in Install & Commissioning


- Understanding of structured cabling installations


- An understanding and general knowledge of current data standards


- Full Valid UK driving license


- Relevant CSCS card


- Own hand tools
