Fire Alarm Installation Commissioning Technician

What you will do


To install and commission: Intruder Alarms, Access Systems, CCTV and Fire Alarm Systems. The successful engineers will install the Fire and Security systems to the relevant industry standards, providing exceptional customer service with industry leading technical knowledge. We are looking for engineers who have the ability identify and rectify problems before they occur. This is a fantastic opportunity for a time served Installation amp; Commissioning Engineer to work within a high performing team, focusing on a geographical region. How you will do it


Working with us to create a Zero Harm environment by maintaining a safe and secure work place and adhering to safe practices. Provide excellent Customer Service to exceed the expectations and requirements of both the internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers.


Work closely with the planning team, ensuring your time is managed efficiently and jobs are prioritised correctly. Commissioning systems utilising your knowledge of Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Door Entry and Access Control Systems and/or Fire Systems; complete Engineer work reports, handover certificates/BSIA Certificates or checklist as appropriate..


Preparation of installations utilising organisational skills. The role will require reviewing specifications, associated drawings, documents and equipment to ensure a smooth delivery of customer service.


Qualifications

What we look for


Experience within Fire or Security systems and hold a relevant electrical qualification (18th edition/ NVQ/ City and Guilds etc).


Had or have previous experience working in a customer facing environment, hold a full clean driving license and have the ability to lift and climb ladders.

The IMAP Fire System Technician is responsible for Performing maintenance and repair on existing fire alarm systems in Department of State principle building facilities, per requirements of Department of State Overseas Building Operations, Fire Protection (OBO/OPS/FIR), manufacturer’s requirements, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of existing fire alarm system(s)
  • Testing of fire alarm systems and components (NFPA 72 inspection and testing form)
  • Perform inventory of all system locations, components and modules, and documenting existing faults prior to repair
  • Perform inspection of each circuit and identify design deficiencies, improper device application, code deficiencies and any visible damage to the conduit of fire alarm cable raceways
  • Survey existing circuit damage
  • Recommended modifications to improve existing fire protection
  • Perform system and device cleaning
  • Perform sensitivity tests
  • Replace of failing/failed components and modules replacement
  • Repairs of ground faults and short circuits
  • Replacement of system batteries
  • Provide fire alarm systems operations instruction to end-users


Required Skills

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience in testing and maintaining fire detection systems;

AND

  • High school diploma, Must hold a minimum of a current NICET II (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology, Fire Alarm Systems) certification;
  • Must have the physical ability to travel overseas
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination for duty
  • Must be able to work on ladders, access hard to reach areas, and be able to lift and carry materials and tools in excess of 25 lb.
  • Must be familiar with the requirements outlined by NICET, NFPA, OSHA, and any other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Must be proficient in using a computer to send email, as well as use Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
