A position is now available for a Roving Joiner to become part of our team.

The role is suited to someone who has a good knowledge of joinery to assist in the upkeep of property and holiday resort accommodation. The successful applicant will be expected to travel across the group with nights away and prolonged stays in order to support areas of the business wherever needed and complete renovation projects. 

Locations will vary and include all of our resorts spread across the UK, such as the Lake District, Cornwall, Yorkshire, Dorset and Devon. 

You will work independently to provide support to the locations as instructed. This will include working alongside the onsite maintenance teams and the Roving Painter and Decorator to help maintain accommodation and company buildings, assisting in projects as required. 

An excellent knowledge of DIY, with attention to detail and high standards are essential for this role.

This is a permanent, full time position working variable hours and on occasions this will include weekends and some bank holidays. Overnight and prolonged stays will be needed, so flexibility is required.

The M6 Smart Motorway scheme length between J21a and J26 is approximately 10 miles, or 16.4km. The All Lane Running (ALR) scheme runs from the north facing slip roads at Junction 21a to the south facing slip roads at Junction 26.  The works are to improve traffic flows by converting the hard shoulder to a permanent traffic lane, together with the introduction of enhanced on-road technology known as Smart Motorways.

 

The role of General Foreman will be under the management of the Works Superintendent during the works of this contract.  The role is to supervise and coordinate all Civil asset delivery resources required to complete the delivery of the SMA project and any works instructed from the client. All works must be completed effectively to ensure good quality works can be completed without any obstruction or impact on programme. Works will be carried out Day and Night under Narrow lanes and during off-peak lane closures.

 

Applicant must be prepared to work nights.

 


Responsibilities:

  • The general management of all civil engineering and survey activities on the site including Sub-contractors
  • The management of the workforce on site to ensure that safe methods of work are used and the effect on the environment is minimised
  • To ensure all Costain Way procedures are followed
  • Support the Works Superintendent and all personnel undertaking the investigation and survey activities
  • Manage and control all activities in line with the agreed programmes
  • Be conversant with all drawings, specifications and related information for these works
  • You are responsible for implementing and maintaining safe systems of work in accordance with the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and the project HASEMP
  • This includes a regular assessment of new risks and hazards that may not be specifically covered by safety system documentation already in place and revise and inform all accordingly

Job Description

Are you looking for a rewarding contract where you will be able to use your skills to make more of a difference than ever before?

We are looking to recruit Site Supervisors.

Some of your responsibilities will:

  • Enable the testing process to be seamless, ensure that the test subjects experience is pleasant and managed in a professional way.
  • Ensure test subjects are booked in appropriately and directed to either the assisted test or self-administered routes.
  • Be accountable for the overall running of the site’s infrastructure and facilities including site setup.
  • Be accountable for assigning subjects to kits and lanes.
  • Deputise in Estate Managers absence, having complete responsibility for full site activity and personnel.
  •  Participates in new site activation to ensure site is ready for day one.·      
  • Ensures that site is ready for operations at the beginning of each day.
  • Work with Team leads, to manage all Mitie and third-party staff on site, including people related matters, absence, rosters, manning, leave.
  • Work with the Equipment Supervisor and team colleagues to ensure that infrastructure on site is suitable and where necessary escalate to remediate issues.
  •   Ensures site is ready for close down at the end of each day.
  •   Monitor infrastructure & report to site provider / service provider / supply & equipment.
  •   Identify security needs with Test Centre Supervisor
  •  Ensure that traffic congestion is reduced.
  • Ensure that vehicles are parked appropriately.
  • All security front line duties are maintained.
  • Dealing with external stakeholders on day to day matters, escalating as appropriate.
  • Manage the flow of subject vehicles into the booth lanes.
  • Review test log sheets and works closely with traffic management staff.
  • Works closely with testers to send subjects to Tester only when Tester is ready.
  •  Resolve in-operation issues raised by Test Supervisor (non-clinical)
  •  Direct vehicles into the appropriate areas to park safely to enable to individuals to undertake the test.
  •  To ensure that social distancing is undertaken.
  • Be vigilant always when on site.
  •  General Site FM Management - General Standards.
  •  All services and personnel to act in accordance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements, unless derogation has been explicitly given.
  •  Perform all the following services in line with Good Industry Practice, unless specific service standards are prescribed. 
  •  Escalate immediately if it becomes apparent that the site is not or is likely to become non-compliant with any law relating to the environment and sustainability or health and safety and will take all reasonable steps to becoming compliant. This excludes regulations that have been explicitly referred to in derogation.
