  • Good working knowledge of Framework based delivery process / standards and approval processes.
  • Shall have a sound understanding of the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) 2015 Regulations

MASS are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to lead their maritime defence campaign. An excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Civils / CRE to join Capita Infrastructure’s Rail & Public Transport team based in Cardiff working across a varied range of regional and UK investment projects.
You will be part of a small team undertaking a full range of challenging and varied work in the planning, appraisal, design and implementation of rail and public transport schemes, working for a number of clients on projects, in Wales and the rest of the UK
To work as part of the Rail team with a broad range of expertise in the field of Transport Planning and Engineering.
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking and managing commissions including engineering feasibility and outline design of rail projects (GRIP 1-4) to support business cases, co-ordinating input from engineering and environmental disciplines and supporting the option selection and development process, collating multi-disciplinary reports, liaising with stakeholders and Technical approval bodies submitting completed technical reports to clients.
You will act as a Contractors Responsible Engineer (Design) for Rail Civil Engineering projects.

  • Mange delivery teams working in collaboration with other disciplines in the Common Data Environment
  • Help to develop the production of drawings, reports and specifications

  • To manage and co-ordinate rail technical studies including work being undertaken by a range of different disciplines in support of business cases and option development reports.
  • Engaging with and developing good working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including Network Rail / local authorities / Tier 1 contractor’s clients and other disciplines
  • To manage projects of appropriate scale, including forecast, monitor and control project resources and costs within set timescales and budgets ensuring quality processes are adhered to and co-ordinate resources ensuring clarity of programme, deliverables and interfaces.
  • The ability to work to personal deadlines and targets to meet the requirements of programmes of work, to meet clients’ needs and to respond to targets set by others.
  • To demonstrate excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, both at a general and technical level.
  • To comply with Health and Safety requirements including the CDM Regulations.
  • To comply with business system processes and requirements.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • Engineering degree in a relevant subject.
  • Chartered Membership of relevant professional institution (IHT, ICE etc)
  • Typically a minimum of 5 years experience in the rail sector
  • Experience of working in the UK rail industry with good working knowledge of Network Rail Grip process / standards and approval processes.

Experience working in some of the below areas:

  • Station design
  • Lineside civils works
  • Gantry and foundation designs
  • Rock cutting stabilisations works
  • Designers risk assessments
  • Bridge design, refurbishment and strengthening schemes
  • Completing design forms (F001-003)
  • Cat 3 checking of third-party designs
  • UTX/URX design
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team comprising planners, designers, engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance to less experienced members of the team.
  • Ability to respond to Project Manager and Client requests and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Understanding of the application of CDM requirements
  • Interest in working in the Rail and Public transport sector
  • Highly developed interpersonal qualities and communication skills suitable for working with many partners in a complex technical, organisational and political environment.
  • Manage own and others time, ensuring deliverables to agreed deadlines and within budget.
  • Adaptable, capable of changing focus from early stage development work to final scheme development and development.
  • Proven ability to write accurate, clear, high quality reports in English.
  • Use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Desirable:

  • A full UK driving licence.
  • PTS qualification
