An exciting work opportunity has arisen with Autocity, automotive sales and repair services company, for an experienced Mechanic to join our team in Dewsbury. 

In this role you will be responsible for diagnostics, repairs, undergoing maintenance, inspections including Pre-Mot, servicing and parts ordering. You will also run complete diagnostic tests using manual tools and technological devices and work with customers and co-workers to establish a timeframe for the completion of each project. 

We are looking for a reliable, punctual and detail oriented person with great interpersonal skills who will be a quick problem solver with sound critical thinking and safety management skills. 

Mechanic Responsibilities: 

  • Work with colleagues or customers to determine the possible source of mechanical problems and define what issues need to be solved.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and evaluations of problematic automotive issues or parts to identify issues.
  • Utilise technological Snap On device to complete diagnostic tests of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Order and replace parts and components and repair body damage as needed.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance.
  • Clean, wash and paint machinery when needed for proper maintenance.
  • Maintain detailed records of each machine or vehicle, included any maintenance, inspection, or repair services performed.
  • Provide upfront estimates for repairs and maintenance.
  • Budget for current and projected repair projects and calculate costs for parts and labour.
  • Lower costs by taking advantage of warranty and insurance coverage when available.
  • Ensure projects are completed effectively and on time.
  • Maintain a large collection of tools and devices for repairing and testing vehicles and other machinery.
  • Keep necessary supplies in stock and place orders to replenish inventory. 

Mechanic Requirements: 

  • Previous experience working in a garage.
  • Technical proficiency, extensive mechanical knowledge, fine motor and  diagnostic skills. Ability to work on engines, gearbox, clutches and other mechanical components.
  • City & Guilds.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • High energy level and physical strength.
  • Basic computer skills. 

Mechanic Salary & Benefits:

What you’ll do:

  • To ensure full productivity is achieved at all times on the shop floor.
  • To ensure that daily work tasks given by supervisor are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • To comply with health and safety legislation.

Salary: Between £37,294 - £44,054 (including a shift premium & location allowance)

Contract: 40 hours per week

Location: UPS Kentish Town, 353 Regis Road, London NW5 3UP

Shift: 10.00pm – 6.30am (40hours per week)

You will need:

  • City and Guilds or equivalent qualification in vehicle mechanics
  • Experience of working with commercial vehicles including LGV's would be an advantage
  • Full UK driving license held for at least 2 years.
  • A 7.5ton license would be an advantage

Hours

Technical Liaison 
  • To build and maintain an excellent working relationship with the relevant Quality and Technical personnel within the Clients business
  • To work closely with the Account Managers and the Technical Platform and Development Manager to analyse scheme performance and product behaviour.
  • Attend additional Technical Update meetings internally and externally for the exchange of technical information to drive roadside repair and product quality.
  • To work closely with the Allianz Partners UK training team to ensure the knowledge base is up to date and maintained.
Technical Assistance
  • To produce, collate and disseminate technical bulletins to management, technicians, and recovery operators.
  • To provide helpdesk support to technicians in relation to parts identification, diagnostic procedures and roadside repair procedures.
  • To provide helpdesk support to the Agent network for assistance recovery information
  • Demonstrate by analysis and/or practical means how reliability issues can be overcome.   
  • To collate and maintain an internal technical library and develop the company’s database of technical knowledge and solutions.
  • Analyse and liaise with the Technical Manager to advise on likely equipment and parts requirements relating to technical issues  
  • To work with the assistance team to improve telephone repair and fault diagnosis and produce analysis of missed opportunities.

Procedure

  • To proactively monitor changes to procedures and propose/agree changes as required. To update the procedures with the changes agreed and circulate to all involved areas.
  • To proactively identify where improvements or new procedures can enhance the operation of a scheme or improve scheme performance.
  • To carry out any ad hoc duties/projects as requested by the Account & Development Manager

Training

  • To assist with Technical Awareness training delivery to the wider business
  • To assist with new technical starter inductions working closely with the Allianz Partners technical training team

Warranty Processing - where necessary

  • Liaise with the AP UK Claims Team on a regular basis to exchange information

  • Previous experience working in a garage.
  • Technical proficiency, extensive mechanical knowledge, fine motor and  diagnostic skills. Ability to work on engines, gearbox, clutches and other mechanical components.
  • City & Guilds.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • High energy level and physical strength.
  • Basic computer skills. 

Mechanic Salary & Benefits:

  • £22,000 - £32,000 PA
  • Monthly bonus
